In collaboration with the UCSF Dept. of Family & Community Medicine, Wellness Equity Alliance is honored to present in their monthly Grand Rounds on Friday, August 2 from 12:00 -1:00 PM PT regarding the Advancement of Healthcare and Economic Development in Indian Country. Co-presented by Tyler B. Evans, MD, MS, MPH, AAHIVS, DTMH, FIDSA and Mark Echo Hawk, this presentation explores healthcare and economic development issues within Indigenous communities. It examines existing healthcare systems and the historical context of Indigenous health services, highlighting disparities faced by American Indian and Alaska Native populations. The session discusses the role of Off Reservation 638 Tribal Health Centers in improving care, accessibility, and economic growth. It features innovative care models like HIV street medicine, reentry services, and school-based health centers. Attendees will understand the systemic changes needed to optimize healthcare delivery and promote economic development in Indian Country through public-private partnerships.
