One of our thematic area at Build A Child Initiative @baciimpacts is Education. We ensure that everyone especially girls in underserved communities have access to quality education. We recently gave out 70 packs of @kotexnigeria sanitary pads each to 7 different Non governmental organizations in Ekiti State Nigeria to support the work they are doing.By supporting their invaluable work, we aim to address the crucial intersection of education and menstrual health, empowering girls to stay in school and pursue their dreams with dignity. We hope to do so much more this 2024 with the several other projects we have outlined for the year. Today and beyond, OTIP Group of Companies continue to be supportive of the rich and diverse cultures, voices, experiences and stories of the First Nations, Inuit, and Métis peoples. Although we can never undo the irreparable trauma caused by residential schools, we are committed to standing with First Nations, Inuit and Métis peoples in solidarity, and as an ally in fostering change for future generations. We continue to be supportive of Indigenous initiatives that encourage truth and reconciliation and urge our members, staff and partners to take this opportunity to learn about, and reflect on, our past and how we can meaningfully participate in reconciliation in Canada. In 2024, OGC donated $40,000 to United for Literacy in support of Summer Literacy Camps in Northern Ontario in partnership with Indigenous communities, and another $40,000 to Indspire. Save the Children International has established 84 groups of Village Savings and Loan Associations (VSLAs) in Sool, Sanaag, and Togdheer regions of Somaliland. VSLAs indeed serve as a powerful approach to empower women and communities, especially in areas vulnerable to recurrent droughts and livelihood disruptions. By providing training on financial literacy and offering start-up grants, Save the Children International is helping these women access alternative livelihood strategies, thereby enhancing their resilience to economic challenges and shock. The support from BMZ donations is crucial in sustaining and expanding such initiatives, ultimately contributing to the socio-economic development and empowerment of communities in Somaliland. VSLAs not only provide financial assistance but also foster a sense of solidarity and cooperation among members, which can have long-term positive effects on community development.

Philanthropic donors are moving more towards providing unrestricted general support to their grantees instead of backing specific projects. Our new report explores this shift to "flexible financing" with insights from over 180 private #philanthropic donors across 32 countries + 20 major foundations. Key highlights: 1️⃣ Flexible financing represented around 19% of all funding deployed by large donors to development causes between 2016-19. 2️⃣ #NGOs in low-income countries are the most likely to receive general, flexible support, but also receive the smallest grants. Multilateral organisations and research institutions have the lowest likelihood of receiving flexible funding. 3️⃣ Organisations working in the energy sector are the most likely to receive flexible financing. In 2007, a few friends and fellow grad students helped bring my dream project to life—Champion! Producing this film in Lagos was the highlight of my journey at school, as it showcased one of the city’s greatest assets: the youth. Fast-forward to 2024, and that same short film sparked something much larger in me. It inspired me to create UR4Africa Project, Inc., a non-profit that’s now touching lives in Lagos and beyond. Our programs—ranging from in-school initiatives, mentorship, and college prep to mini-grants and exchange programs—are all dedicated to empowering young Africans with the tools they need to succeed. Since UR4Africa’s inception, I’ve witnessed the incredible talent and passion of our participants, partners, mentors, and amazing leads. Leads are students who were once in our youth initiative Public Art Africa as participants and now they are mentors. These alumni are now pursuing their own dreams while attending college and starting their own small businesses, driven by the skills and confidence gained through our programs. Stories like these fuel my commitment to expanding our impact. Join us in building a brighter future by supporting our GoFundMe campaign: https://lnkd.in/gcMAArXV. As we prepare for 2025, we need your help to reach our next milestone. We’re raising funds to secure a new space for next year and continue our Public Art Africa (PAA) initiatives in Lagos' government schools. Our goal is to expand to another district so that we can target more students and communities. Whether it’s through a donation or by sharing our story, every bit helps. Together, we can expand these impactful programs across Africa, empowering more young people to become leaders and change-makers. #UR4Africa #SupportUR4Africa #YouthDevelopment #AfricaIsTheFuture #GrassrootsChange #EmergingLeaders #CommunityEmpowerment

The Urgent Need for Sustainable SEND Funding As a SEND-focused charity, Fortune College provides alternative education that transforms lives – helping young people with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities gain education, confidence, resilience, and real-world skills through therapeutic, hands-on experiences. Yet, with the Department for Education projecting a £4.3 to £4.9 billion deficit in SEND funding by 2026, it’s clear the current system is unsustainable. This funding shortfall not only impacts the quality and reach of SEND services but also affects countless young lives waiting for support that might never come. Our work, alongside many other organizations, fills a critical gap. But the reality is: passion alone can’t fund the future. For our students to thrive, we need a reimagined commitment to SEND funding—one that enables innovation, values impactful programs, and, above all, invests in every young person’s potential. Let’s raise our voices to shape a system that supports every child, every need, and every dream. #SEND #SENDFunding #EducationMatters #LearningThroughHorses #InclusionMatters
