There’s a reason that we celebrate women for 31 days during Women’s History Month – because we fill so many roles! Is one month even enough? Today, I joined Taylor Beisell, Natalie Cooper, Prathima Tharangini, Kelsey Alanna Times, Sabrina Yu and Saagar Thakkar for a fantastic virtual session with Deloitte professionals in honor of #WHM. We talked about these roles, the identities that come with them, and what it means to be authentic. I hope they were as #inspired as I was by the conversation.
A few things I shared: I value being intentional, yet flexible, and transparent – sometimes I might be too open – but it helps me build relationships. And I try to be forgiving and compassionate with myself and others. Supportive #networks are so important – I am fortunate to have colleagues and family to lean on – and I feel strongly that it’s ok to ask for help when we need it.
We also talked about how we are more than just our stats. I am a professional, a mother, wife, daughter, mentor, leader, and teammate. I have identities tied to Deloitte, with my family, and in my community. I believe wholeheartedly that women can and should embrace the #intersectionality of all these roles. The different aspects of who we are can’t be separated. That’s why I say it’s ok to be #imperfectlypresent and give yourself some grace.
