We had a tremendous turnout for our surgical robotics open house! More than 100 students as well as community members, providers and colleagues were able to get a unique, firsthand experience with our incredible healthcare technology. These robotics are truly making a difference for our patients. Students from Oregon, Fruitland, Caldwell, Vallivue, College of Idaho, CWI and more stopped by to try out the robotics. Here's what one teacher had to say: "It means a lot that West Valley takes the time to support, educate and invest in the next generation of future health professionals." Over the past 35 years, FIRST has grown from a groundbreaking idea for inspiring future science and technology leaders into the gold standard for youth robotics. Today, our global robotics community is influencing culture and creating new generations of innovators across industries with the only sport where every participant can go pro. This transformation inspired our arts-themed robotics season, FIRST IN SHOW presented by Qualcomm. During the 2023-2024 season, FIRST students explored the intersection of science, technology, engineering, art, and math (STEAM) and gained the community, skills, and self-confidence to build a better future. Our 2024 Annual Impact Report shines a spotlight on FIRST programs’ best-in-show outcomes and the community bringing the FIRST mission to life. The The Si Se Puede Foundation's Annual Jeep Hack is one of my favorite times of year. For nearly 10 years I have been teaching high school and college students the importance of assistive technology and how just a little bit of engineering knowledge can make a big difference in the lives of the people it affects. Check out how FIRST Robotics Competition Team 6413 and Desert WAVE are using their technical skills to convert Power Wheels jeeps into affordable mobility devices to help children with conditions like cerebral palsy and Rett syndrome achieve greater independence!
