Did you know that 1.3 million trucks crossed Baltimore's Francis Scott Key Bridge a year, averaging 36,000 trucks daily? With the recent collapse of the bridge, shippers and truckers are now being forced to take alternative routes. These shifts are expected to increase fuel costs due to longer routes needed to be taken, cause delays, and worsen congestion along the eastern portion of the I-95 interstate. Read the article below to understand how your operations may be impacted. 👇 https://hubs.la/Q02r2Dzh0 #trucking #shippers #article #insights #bridge #collapse #delays #fuelcosts #logistics #factoring #equipment #leasing #finacing #IFTA #dotcompliance #support #safety

Since the March 26 container ship collision that collapsed the Francis Scott Key Bridge in Baltimore, ships previously bound for the Port of Baltimore have been diverted to other ports, including the Port of Virginia. Apart from the human toll, the port’s closure means a temporary stop to about $15 million a day in daily economic activity for Baltimore, and experts estimated that the ripple effect on railroads, distribution centers and trucking will also cost the city tens of millions of dollars. https://loom.ly/XEU5N2Y

🚢 Industry News 🚢 BALTIMORE — Great news for the logistics sector! The main shipping channel into Baltimore's port has fully reopened as of June 10, following the collapse of the Francis Scott Key Bridge on March 26, which had blocked maritime traffic. A massive cleanup effort, involving 56 federal, state, and local agencies and around 500 specialists from across the globe, successfully removed 50,000 tons of steel and concrete from the Patapsco River. The channel was cleared after a containership lost power and crashed into a bridge column, causing a tragic accident. On Thursday, a Maryland transportation official said a new bridge could be expected by fall of 2028 at a cost of $1.7 billion to $1.9 billion. The Port of Baltimore, a critical hub processing more cars and farm equipment than any other U.S. port, faced significant disruptions. Thousands of longshoremen, truckers, and small business owners were impacted, but with the full reopening, commerce is set to ramp back up, easing the economic ripple effects. #LogisticsNews #BaltimorePort #SupplyChain #TEANA #Logistics #Expedited #Trucking
