Happy Summer! Grow Your Garden. Gardening is a hobby of mine. The end results are very rewarding. Getting to that ‘end result’ takes getting organized, a lot of hard work, making decisions, and timing. How you get to the ‘end results’ is up to you. Are you a spontaneous gardener, or a gardening that plans everything out? I like to prep my soil with compost every time I plant something. I layer in extra annuals and perennials where I see gaps in the flowers beds. I like to make up my mind about the plants at the garden center. A new variety of plant could meet your needs and add some extra pizzazz! Here are a few tips based on my many years of experience. *Take pictures where there are gaps in your plantings. I have gone to the garden center many times and stand there guessing where I have space to plant and how many plants I can add in that location. Do you want Annuals or Perennials? It is a Sunny or Shady spot? Morning sun or afternoon sun? *Don’t plant too early. Check your planting zone and how late your area can get frost and keep the plants inside until its warm enough. *Make a list of other supplies you need at the garden center. mulch, tools, new hose, etc. *Mulch last Save the mulching for the very end of all planting; less to move around when digging holes. Water thoroughly to give your plants a good start. The best part is of course the end result when everything is growing and blooming. Happy Planting!

Less serious gardening is a laissez-faire hobby, more about the planning and the journey than reaching a destination. Being amateur — the root word that translates "to love" — is more relaxing and emphasizes the here and now, the day-to-day interest or the challenges, or your inner nurturer. #Gardening #Solastalgia #InTheGarden https://bit.ly/3SZZa6P

Starting a Backyard Garden Not every homeowner is willing or able to dedicate backyard space to a big garden, but the size of your garden shouldn’t deter you from looking into options for a very rewarding hobby. Whether through simply growing a few herbs or flowers in containers, or by tilling a plot for bountiful harvests, gardening is known to improve physical activity and help reduce stress. Furthermore, tending to plants can help us develop personal resilience and learn to embrace acceptance on a psychological level. If you are a beginner, do not dismay – you will be surprised at the advice you can easily gather just by researching online or at a garden-centre. Start with a plan based on the time you want to invest and the results you want to achieve, such as abundant foliage or luscious fruits and vegetables. Although each type requires specific care, indigenous plants tend to be hardiest. After determining growing schedules and sunlight requirements, you need to decide when and where to plant. Make sure taller species do not overshadow neighbouring sunlight-seekers, but also avoid over-exposing those needing shade. Before planting seeds or transplanting slips, condition the soil with recommended nutrients, and ensure water is readily accessible.
