At Richard Group, safety is not just a priority—it's a core value that underpins everything we do. Our Safety Management Steering Committee, led by De'Onta Hoover, is dedicated to maintaining and enhancing our robust safety culture. De'Onta shared his thoughts on our commitment to safety: "I'm proud of the full-time site safety and health officers we are implementing on our larger projects to compliment the great 'safety culture' at Richard Group. Safety Saturday: Ensuring Safety with Pre-Task Plans 🚧🔧 At SDV Construction, Pre-Task Plans (PTPs) are a critical part of our daily operations, ensuring both safety and efficiency on our jobsites. (How do you ensure your team stays focused on safety during every task? Share your thoughts, tips, and experiences below!) Here’s why PTPs are essential: 📊 Key Insights: 1. Over 80% of workplace injuries are due to worker behavior. 2. Focused concentration on a task can reduce the ability to recognize obvious hazards. 3. Effective Pre-Task Planning integrates NFPA 70E 0-Voltage Verification procedures, crucial for all LO/TO activities. 🛠 Why Planned Work Is Safe Work: 1. Hazard Control: Identifies, plans for, and controls hazards. 2. Proper Sequencing: Ensures installation sequences are planned and scheduled. 3. Conflict Resolution: Coordinates conflicting scopes of work. 4. Resource Management: Ensures proper equipment and trained personnel are available. 🔍 Pre-Task Plan Best Practices: 1. Conduct PTPs on the jobsite, not in the trailer. 2. If conditions change, STOP and reassess with the team. 3. PTPs are live documents, updated throughout the shift. 🗣 Effective PTP Collaboration: 1. Everyone on the crew should contribute. 4. Speak up if you notice a missed hazard. 3. Knowledge and communication enhance safety. 4. Ensure PTPs are filled out ahead of time for optimal preparation. By committing to thorough Pre-Task Planning, we uphold safety standards, ensuring a safer and more productive work environment. Let’s work together to stay safe and successful! 🦺🏗️ [Disclosure: The information provided is intended for educational purposes only and does not constitute legal or professional advice. Accidents happen, like when this truck took a tumble. It's a reminder of why we must always prioritize safety procedures, even when they seem trivial. Every measure counts to keep our work environment secure. We've put together a list what you should and shouldn't do in this situation ⤵️ Do: ✅ Remain calm. ✅ Evaluate and secure the scene. ✅ Call 911 immediately if needed. ✅ Report all incident details to your supervisor ASAP. ✅ Think about the needed fixes before taking any action. ✅ Identify outside factors that could make things worse or unsafe. ✅ Discuss mitigation strategies with key personnel. ✅ Ask yourself if you have the proper training and knowledge to assist. Don’t: ❌ Ignore or downplay the incident ❌ Delay seeking medical attention especially for life-threatening injuries ❌ Fail to report the incident or withhold information ❌ Don't overlook established safety protocols and procedures ❌ Disregard the well-being of employee(s) involved in the incident ❌ Don't neglect follow-up activities ❌ Underestimate the Psychological impact ❌ Attempt to implement corrective actions without approval If you need construction safety training or certifications that are fun and engaging, check out our online and in person courses created by experts with over 25 years of experience in the construction and environmental safety industry. Safety protects lives. This is more than just a saying at NNI. It’s our foundation. Because safety isn't just about wearing hard hats or following protocols. It’s about listening to the people on our job sites. Picture a job site where every suggestion is heard. Where the newest worker can speak up just like a seasoned superintendent. That’s our goal on every job site. Different perspectives make us better and safer. And each voice can point out something others might miss. So, let’s keep the dialogue open. Let’s keep learning from each other. And let’s remember why we prioritize safety. Because safety doesn’t just protect individuals. It protects everyone on a job site. #safetyweek #nniconstruction #construction
