This isn’t the first time I’ve heard stories like this… This embodies everything that’s ‘wrong’ with our economy… similarly in the energy supply world… at the point of use gas (high CO2) is still cheaper per kWh than electricity (lower CO2)…. And, as with aviation and trains the costs are skewed by poor and outdated legislation and taxation….

🎥 Our latest film released - £25m upgrades to South Western Railway Class 458 fleet for our client Porterbrook Twenty-eight four-car units have been refurbished with new SWR livery, modern seats, wireless charging points and an increased top speed. Porterbrook Fleet Services Director Andy Bagguley CEng MIMechE said: “Our Class 458s have proudly served SWR's routes for the last 25 years. We know that the needs of passengers evolve over time, so it’s important that our trains do the same, and that’s why we continually invest in our fleets to ensure they meet expectations." Another day, another great example of #TrackLink3 Check out this video, where Transport for Wales' Jessica Clement explains how the Tri-Mode vehicles can utilise the three available power supplies based on the infrastructure available. This switching of power feeds is delivered at SIL-2, and at full track speed, by #TrackLink3 - delivering a safer, faster and greener service for passengers in Wales. Yet another Smart Solution for the Digital Railway. Great to see the first of many new vehicles unveiled in Wales recently. The new #FLIRT fleet, built by Stadler, is using #TrackLink3 to deliver an Automatic Power Change Over and an Automatic Selective Door Opening solution, all from one system. It’s great to see these trains in service. When we started this journey, with #TfW, #Amey and #Keolis at the project launch in 2018 at Coleg y Cymoedd, Rt. Hon. Professor Carwyn Jones and James Price articulated the vision of a decarbonised, modern Metro system for the valleys. The concept of SMART electrification was introduced, but now it’s been delivered by #Amey, #TfW and #TfWRL. My friend and colleague Frank Renault, told me that some of his French workmates had said that the introduction of four new rolling stock fleets, linked to a major infrastructure project, on a live railway was a 15-year venture. 8 years in, 4 fleets have been delivered and 70% of the infrastructure commissioned into service. This couldn’t have been done without some great leaders at #TfW James Price, Dan Tipper, Karl Gilmore, #Amey Wayne Brigden, Paul Lazarus, Neil Evans, Javier Sánchez Laguna, Nathan Sealy, Richard Ladd and #TfWRL Jan Chaudhry van der Velde, Marie Daly and Colin Lea plus the partners, Paul Chesman #Siemens, Dr Alasdair MacDonald #Balfours and Tim James #Griffiths and too many other people and companies to mention. On top of all the above, the valley lines infrastructure was transferred from NR to TfW, to be managed by Amey IW, (kudos to Andrew Wozencraft, Andy Joy, Alexia Course and Philip Rawlings MBA BEng CEng MICE), we had a major world wide pandemic, a war in the Ukraine and hyper inflation. Next year will see the introduction of the metro vehicles into passenger use, line of sight signalling to Cardiff Bay from Queen Street and more electrification on the Rhymney Line. This is a transformational project. There is major thanks to go to the people of the valleys who lived with the disruption of the project, I’m sure the end result will prove worth it.

May 14 marks our annual National Slow Down and Move Over Day, which reminds drivers to slow down and move over for first responders and stopped tow trucks with flashing amber lights. As a longtime advocate of road safety, today CAA clubs across Canada unite and advocate for safer roads for everyone. At CCG, we are passionate about safety and believe everyone deserves a safe workplace, including Associates who operate CAA tow trucks. We all play a role in #RoadSafety. As we approach the summer driving season, we remind drivers to slow down, and wherever possible, move over when approaching a roadside emergency rescue. By doing so, we can help protect the lives of those who work on our roads and highways and make our roads safer for everyone. #SlowDownAndMoveOver #CAA
