An International call for projects has been launched to refurbish and re-conceptualise several halls at the Montjuïc trade fair venue. The historic trade fair venue of Fira Internacional de Barcelona at Montjuïc hill is to be remodelled ahead of the centenary for the Universal Exhibition of 1929, with an international architecture competition launched last May 15th for the renovation project. The goal is to turn the Montjuïc venue into an iconic and modern urban trade fair complex in Europe. Consideration will be given to projects that optimise the trade fair facilities, making them modern, flexible and adaptable for various uses, in line with the 21st century parameters of efficiency, digitalisation and sustainability #tradefair #urbantransformation https://lnkd.in/d3pms7Ug

Did you know that on March 13th, the international real estate and investment forum MIPIM 2024 will take place, which annually happens in Cannes, France? Of course, Latvia is also participating. We are truly pleased that one of our clients is also a participant – Riga Port City. Also, one of the MIPIM 2024 finalists is the Riga developer Eagle Hills, which plans to invest 3 billion in the development of Andrejsala. However, we believe this is insufficient. In Latvia, many worthy world-class projects are being developed and implemented, which, in our opinion, should be presented. We need to show that we can also build modern, sustainable, and aesthetically pleasing buildings. This is a great step towards the development and popularization of the real estate industry in Latvia on an international level. We can do more. Latvia, let’s go! 📢 Call for Architects: The Municipality of Varazdin in 🇭🇷 Croatia is seeking architects to contribute to the renovation of Beli Kipi, an educational and sports centre. The goal is to enhance this public building's aesthetics, sustainability, and accessibility for the local community. This 1,200 m² building is located between the Drava River and a canal on the outskirts of the city. Originally constructed as a military warehouse, it must now be adapted to serve the needs of local associations that work with children and youth, promoting a closer connection to nature. 🌍 Many European cities are characterized by a museum quarter and Rotterdam is no exception but can be considered a late bloomer. This year marks the centenary of the Land of Hoboken, which is a part of the city’s Museumpark. 🏛️ For a long time, Museum Boijmans Van Beuningen was the cultural beacon in an area that used to be a private estate, but the early 1990s changed that with three consecutive openings that turned it into a cultural hotspot. 📍Kunsthal Rotterdam (1992) 📍Chabot Museum (1993) 📍Nieuwe Instituut (1993) 🌳 The Museumpark will be the central location of the annual Rotterdam Architectuur Maand taking place in June. ⚪ Heritage Alert : Update ⚪   Following the 2019 #HeritageAlert, ICOMOS, ICOMOS Danmark and ICOMOS International Scientific Committee on #20thcenturyheritage (ISC20C) welcome recent indications that plans for the demolition of the internationally recognised modernist #VikingShipHall of the Viking Ship Museum in Roskilde have changed. 🏆The winning design of the architectural competition proposes a separate new hall with modern exhibition facilities for the 5 Viking shipwrecks, while the old hall is to be preserved, although partly altered and used for public events. Another important feature of the winning proposal is the transformation of the surrounding landscape to withstand the regular flooding from the Roskilde fjord. ⏳ The funding to conserve the historic hall has not yet been secured: the approach to the future use of the original Viking Ship Hall and the recognition of the site’s cultural significance will be important factors as the project progresses. 🌐 More information: https://buff.ly/3Qhx9ar

Osaka Expo 2025 The World Expo serves as a global stage for showcasing the achievements of nations. Recently, Miti announced Malaysia's participation in World Expo 2025. As an architect, I am particularly excited to see the design of the national pavilions. However, there are rumours circulating that Miti is contemplating the appointment of a foreign architect for the Malaysian pavilion's design. I sincerely hope that Miti can consider the talented pool of Malaysian architects who could contribute to and showcase our expertise in designing the national pavilion. Architecture can serve as a form of cultural expression. The national pavilion at the World Expo allows architects who design iconic structures that represent their country's identity and culture to contribute to cultural diplomacy. This is also an opportunity for Malaysian architects to promote architectural services regionally and internationally. I believe that Malaysian architects even young architects can achieve similar feats if given the opportunity. Many notable national pavilions in recent years have been designed by young architects. Hope the rumour is not true. Ministry of Investment, Trade and Industry (MITI) could organise an international design competition for architects to submit designs for Malaysia's national pavilion.
