The Department of Water Resources estimates above-normal water supply conditions for the San Joaquin Valley and the Sacramento Valley according to forecasts released this week. There has not been an above-normal water year since 2005 in the Sacramento Valley and 2010 in the San Joaquin Valley. Since 2000, most years have been critical, dry, or wet. 💧August is National Water Quality Month! 💧 The Land Trust for Tennessee understands just how important land is - but a major part of what makes our land here in Tennessee so valuable, diverse, and life-sustaining is the water that flows through it. The Land Trust is driven to continue protecting areas of high water quality to ensure a healthy future for generations to come. We did this water quality analysis, based on a combination of recent, on-the-ground sampling data and land-based factors, to give us a reading on the health of our watersheds. Further, it assists in the prioritization of land conservation projects that will have the greatest impact on nearby and downstream water quality. Protecting and restoring water quality is central to the St. Johns River Water Management District's mission. Our water quality monitoring program, managed by the Bureau of Water Resource Information, provides critical data for informed resource management decisions. Residents can also access this information to learn about local groundwater, springs, and water bodies. https://lnkd.in/g8jqbExU #WaterQuality #EnvironmentalProtection #ResourceManagement

As we move into August, remember the heat of summer is far from over, and every customer must continue to do their part in supporting the District’s water conservation efforts. Please only water when needed on your designated days and DO NOT water between the hours of 10 AM and 6 PM to reduce water loss due to evaporation. We sincerely thank those of you who are taking this responsibility seriously, because every drop counts!💧💚 Have you noticed fluctuations in your water pressure? Learn more about why this happens during peak usage times and how your water-saving efforts can help in our blog post below! https://lnkd.in/djd-b6EZ

52% of North Carolina’s population depends on groundwater for its drinking water supply. When the Sales family’s well failed in Goldstein, NC, they faced long hours without water—a critical issue found throughout rural America. Through the #HometownH2O Initiative, Goulds Water Technology, The Chris Long Foundation, Waterboys, the Water Well Trust and local providers partnered to drill nearly 800 feet down, install a high-powered pump and deliver over 1,000 gallons of water storage capacity. This is more than one family’s story—it’s proof of how our customers bring resilience and reliability to the communities that need it most. #GWTWaterWarriors #LetsSolveWater

Exciting stormwater news for Georgia! If you care about clean water as much as I do, you’ll be happy to hear about some great progress happening in Georgia right now. We’re receiving over $125 million in federal funding to upgrade our stormwater, wastewater, and drinking water systems, and it’s going to make a big difference. This isn’t just about fixing pipes—it’s about protecting our health, keeping harmful contaminants like PFAS out of our water, and ensuring that future generations can enjoy the clean water we sometimes take for granted. As someone who’s dedicated to preserving America’s water resources, I’m so grateful to see this investment being made. It’s a real win for our communities and the environment, and it reminds me of how far we’ve come since the Clean Water Act first gave us the tools to fight for water quality. And in DeKalb County, we’re seeing another step in the right direction. After nearly 20 years, the county is increasing stormwater fees to help fund critical repairs and maintenance on over 600 miles of stormwater pipes. This isn’t just an increase—it’s an opportunity to improve the infrastructure that helps keep our water safe and clean. With the additional funding, we’ll be able to address long-overdue maintenance and protect our water systems from the impacts of heavy rainfall and runoff. Every little bit of progress made in the mission to protect America’s water brings us closer to the clean, healthy watersheds we all want to see! #NPDES #NPDESTraining #NPDESTrainingInstitute #TrainingThatMatters #Stormwater #StormwaterManagement #StormwaterProfessionals #StormwaterTraining #MS4Training #MS4sMatter #WaterQuality

Wetlands play a major role in the water cycle by receiving, storing and releasing water over time, regulating water flows, and providing the water needed to support life. Changes to the water cycle influence wetland processes, reducing or increasing water, converting ephemeral or seasonal wetlands to near-permanent, or changing the seasonality of water flows. Did you know we lose 2.1 trillion gallons of water each year in the US from public water systems? That's 6 billion gallons lost every day. Water leaks are a chronic problem in older water systems. Each year in the US we lose a tremendous amount of treated potable water from our public water systems. In addition to the lost water resources, this is also lost monetary resources for the cost of treatment as well as the lost revenue for the system, and an additional load on our stormwater systems.

An important measure of the Delta Conveyance Project’s role in securing California’s water supply is to consider the amount of water that could have been captured if the DCP were operational in 2024. For example, between January 1 and June 13, it could have captured about 941,000 acre-feet of water. That’s enough water for more than 9.8 million people, or 3.3 million households, for one year. Check out this informative graphic for more on missed opportunities for capturing water during high flow weather events: https://lnkd.in/gfWUf7z4 #DeltaConveyanceProject #California #Water
