📢 Enrollment for the STAR program is coming soon! ⭐ The STAR Tool is a free, confidential resource that helps producers adopt conservation practices on their fields. These practices improve soil health, water and air quality, and can increase farm profitability. By completing a form about their practices, producers receive a 1-to-5 STAR rating, tailored recommendations, technical assistance, a Conservation Innovation Plan (CIP) for implementation, and a field sign displaying their STAR rating. How the STAR Tool helps producers: 💰 Better investment - Practices that conserve soil and water lead to more weather-resilient farms, increasing crop yield, farm revenue, and the value of the land. 🙌 Free guidance - STAR will help de-risk the adoption of new practices by providing the producer with a plan, a technical advisor, a list of eligible programs, and potential resources to help with implementation. Receive timely updates about the STAR Tool by signing up for our newsletter at https://lnkd.in/gs9YxK7t. or email Lauren Quakenbush for more details at Lauren.Quackenbush@agr.wa.gov. #STARProgram #STARTool #ConservationPractices #SoilHealth #WaterQuality #AirQuality #Agriculture #Farming #TechnicalAssistance #Conservation #Sustainability #FarmerResources #Ranchers #WAFarms

Introducing one of the six 2024 #Experimental Acres projects - liquid manure application using a dragline, conducted by Wade Deaken of Appinbrook Farms Ltd. near Elmwood in Grey County, Ontario. 🌱 This project involves surface application of liquid manure with a dragline after the first cut haylage is removed. It aims to remove headland crop damage and compaction from tankers, which is currently how they apply liquid manure, because typically, the headland does very poorly for second cut after tire traffic. The test area includes 40 acres of hay ground. About Grey County's Experimental Acres program: The Grey County Experimental Acres program supports local farmers in piloting new, regenerative practices to improve yield, soil health and overall sustainability. This year’s six selected projects range from 1 to 50 acres, including intercropping (more than one crop in the same field), rotational grazing, using wool pellets as a soil amendment, and more! Since 2023, the County of Grey has supported pilot projects on 12 farms, directly impacting practices on 175 acres of farmland and helping advance Going Green in Grey, the County’s Climate Action Plan. Thank you to Grey Agricultural Services for partnering on this initiative! Check out the full farm profiles at: https://lnkd.in/e66wsnTj

Why should growers consider the Techponics modular hydroponic systems? 🛠️ Modularity means systems can adapt to any farm size or setup either indoor or outdoor which is very new for the industry 🌾 Start small, scale fast. Whether you’re adding ponds to a greenhouse or an open-field shelter, flexibility is key. Hydroponics isn't one-size-fits-all. It’s customizable agriculture that works for your goals. Curious about the possibilities? Let’s connect! #Hydroponics #LeafyGreens #ModularFarming #AgriculturalInnovation

#FieldDoc Has Table Views! The power of a spreadsheet is now inside #FieldDoc. Our new Table Editing feature lets you manage your conservation and restoration data with precision and efficiency using a familiar, spreadsheet-style view. Single-form entry works for small tasks, but when your goal is to plant thousands of trees, restore miles of stream, or seed entire fields with cover crops, you need tools that match your ambition. Whether you’re editing existing data or batch-importing new records, Table Editing saves you countless hours—making your work faster, smarter, and more impactful. #Conservation #Restoration #EnvironmentalData #SustainableLandManagement #ClimateResilience #TechForGood #DataTools #TableEditing #naturetech #WaterQuality #HabitatRestoration #ConservationTechnology

🧑💻Managing data for your restoration projects doesn’t have to be time-consuming. Keeping track of spatial information—like the footprint of a forest buffer or the length of a restored stream—is critical, but so are the associated attributes, such as practice names, descriptions, and implementation metrics. Over time, managing all this data can start to feel overwhelming. That’s why we’ve introduced table-based editing in FieldDoc, bringing the platform even closer to your internal workflows. This new feature allows you to copy and paste data seamlessly from local Excel files, Google Sheets, or even within the table itself—saving you time and simplifying your process. Efficient data management starts here!🌳🌳

I'm grateful for PBS's coverage and the spotlight on one of the grand challenges of our time, the Ogallala Aquifer—conserving groundwater and ensuring community economic viability on the plains. I'm also thrilled to see the acknowledgment of the invaluable work of local LEMAs and leaders like Katie Durham recognized in this piece. Their efforts are a beacon of hope in a dire and often misunderstood conversation. How do we work together to see those sparks become a movement of collaboration and conservation? The potential impact of our collective efforts is immense, as demonstrated in the Sheridan 6 LEMA. We can make a real difference by utilizing technology, innovative crop choices and genetics, strategic management decisions, advancing programs like the Master Irrigators and TAPS, advocating for necessary policy changes and supporting applied research for farmers and communities over the Ogallala. As communicators in agriculture and natural resources, We need more narratives and stories that spark conversations and elevate the necessity of our work—sharing experiences, successes and failures that can inspire broader participation and foster a collective commitment to sustainable practices. https://lnkd.in/gkxSjiJN #ClimateChange #Sustainability #Agriculture #WaterConservation #GreatPlains #Farming #OgallalaAquifer #InnovationInAgriculture
