Last year, Weyerhaeuser's Louisiana Timberlands Giving Fund advisory committee, comprised of employees from our Ruston, Winnfield and Hammond area offices, was proud to support the Louisiana Purchase Council of Scouting America. Thanks to contributions from Weyerhaeuser and others, the Scouts are able to expand accessibility for all campers at Camp Attakapas by enlarging the dining hall and adding ADA-compliant restrooms.

Maryland will be soon joining 11 other states and Washington DC in having paint recycling drop-off sites thru PaintCare. According to MD Senator Chris West, “As much as 10% of paint purchased goes unused.” This will help keep all that leftover paint out of landfills and sitting in garages, and instead put it to a better use through recycling and reuse. The program will be funded by a fee collected when paint is purchased. This is instead of charging a fee at the drop-off site as a way to further increase recycling rates. https://lnkd.in/e68tcYzK Great way to make sure leftover paint becomes new paint instead of landfill waste or being illegally dumped. Come on #Pennsylvania, let's get on board this! #circularEconomy #ExtendedProducerResponsibility #EPR #recycling
Households and businesses across Maryland will soon be able to recycle their leftover paint thanks to a new law that was approved by the Maryland Legislature and signed on Thursday, May 9, by Governor Wes Moore. Maryland is the 12th state (in addition to the District of Columbia) to adopt this program, which will be operated by PaintCare, a nonprofit organization created by the paint industry through the American Coatings Association. Wall Street is head over heels in love with farmland, and it is not because bankers all of a sudden want to be farmers in suits. Farmland is the new “it” asset, with consistent returns, a hedge against inflation, and stability that stock markets can only dream of. Here is what you should know: institutional investors have invested over $11 billion into farmland, representing a huge leap from a decade previous. Why? For one, farmland couldn’t care less when tech stocks take a nosedive or some new cryptocurrency bombs. It produces food, not to mention profits, with clockwork regularity and does not have recessions. Think of it as the quiet overachiever in the investment world. With platforms like AcreTrader and FarmTogether, even the average Joe—or at least one with a bit of extra cash—can now own a piece of the pie, or better yet, the field. But here’s the thing: while this is all well and good for increasing land values, it’s making life difficult for small-scale farmers, who are now facing prices through the roof. So while Wall Street is doing the hula dance over its new darling, the rest of us might want to keep our eyes on the grocery bills. If farmland becomes a playground for big investors, who’s going to grow our kale? Food for thought—or perhaps just food.
« “Just remember we still have all the tapes, so we’re going to need to you bankrupt British Farmers & then our philanthropic foundations will buy all the land, build fake meat factories & insect farms” “Yes Bill, consider it done Bill” Did you know Bill Gates is now one of the largest private farm land owners in America? » (Cit.) https://lnkd.in/dXzx3t6w
