So, during #WBW2024, let’s focus on the specific challenges and needs of preterm and sick babies and their mothers! 🤱💜 🤝 Spread the message: “Protect and promote breastfeeding for the best start in life." It's World Breastfeeding Week 2024 1 - 7 August 2024 Breastfeeding is the best way to provide infants with the nutrients they need. World Health Organization (WHO) recommends exclusive breastfeeding starting within one hour after birth until a baby is 6 months old. Nutritious complementary foods should then be added while continuing to breastfeed for up to 2 years or beyond. If every child was breastfed within an hour of birth, given only breast milk for their first six months of life, and continued breastfeeding up to the age of two years, about 800,000 child lives would be saved every year. WHO actively promotes breastfeeding as the best source of nourishment for infants and young children. #Breastfeeding #WorldBreastfeedingWeek #WorldBreastfeedingWeek2024 #WHO #WorldHealthOrganization
