Mattioli Woods a core holding in both the Whitman UK Small Cap Growth Fund and Whitman AIM IHT service, has this morning confirmed a 804p cash offer, representing a 34% premium to the closing price of 600p per share (source: London Stock Exchange, 8 March 2024). Mattioli Woods is a leading player in the UK asset and wealth management market, which is currently undergoing considerable consolidation, principally funded by private equity. The acquisition price represents an opportunistic multiple in our view and further highlights the attractiveness of UK small caps. We continue to see considerable value across the portfolio, when comparing to historic multiples, private equity transactions and internationally listed peers.

A Huge Vote Of Confidence In The Letting Market The recent sales of Stirling Ackroyd, Chestertons and Alexander & Co represents a huge vote of confidence in the UK letting market. Despite endless articles about the decline of the buy to let market, it seems that a private equity fund and a large European property conglomerate still have enough confidence in the sector to spend a nine figure sum on three large acquisitions and I believe that this confidence is fully justified. Whilst over 200,000 buy to let properties were sold in 2023, most of ... https://lnkd.in/eXmAicFK

Howdy! Buy Order! This past week the Real Estate & Financials sector (Christian Larios-Cruz, Maxwell Finnegan, Reece Jumonville, and Gauravaram Ganesh Sudhakar) in the Aggie Investment Club Equity Fund pitched Crown Castle (NYSE: CCI), a cell tower and telecommunications infrastructure company based in Houston. The fund accepted our pitch and has allocated 4.4% of our AUM for CCI. Our 2-year price target is $158.68 with an implied 62.22% upside. This interesting story with much noise is fueled by a potential fiber and small cell asset sale (~$12Bn), activist investor Elliott Investment Management L.P., a management shake-up, a current proxy fight started by a co-founder, and significant balance sheet restructuring. Attached below is our full presentation, valuation models, and in-depth investment thesis on Crown Castle. Please let me know what you think! #longAIC #ReclaimingTheCrown #RestoringTheCastle

Rohan Tells us an intriguing tale about Charlie Munger's investment strategy. He says that Charlie, a savvy investor before his time, had a fondness for acquiring large, well-kept real estate properties. He had a keen eye for irreplaceable gems, often in picturesque coastal towns, with a particular taste for apartment complexes. He was building a lasting legacy, creating generational wealth through his real estate acquisitions. He safeguarded these assets with complex buy-sell provisions in trust, preventing sales and ensuring continued ownership. The result? A steady, substantial cash flow for his family. Exciting news! Calder Capital is expanding into Florida with a new office in the Tampa Bay area, led by seasoned dealmaker Matt Uhl. Part of our 10-year plan is nationwide expansion physically,” commented Max Friar. “While we serve clients everywhere presently, it’s important to have boots on the ground for those critical face-to-face meetings and discussions. Additionally, Florida makes a lot of sense. Beyond the significant business and community ties to the Midwest, the population of Florida is expected to grow 30% by 2040 and already the state is one of the largest economies in the world.” Friar continued, “Quite frankly, we continue to find that manufacturing, construction, and services businesses in the $2-50M range are underserved; Main Street brokers are ill-equipped and ineffective, and larger investment banks are not interested.” Connect with Matt to learn more about our growth and how we can assist you with your M&A needs! With a thoughtful comment from Ken Bohenek, CMAP, BCI from Murphy Business Sales “If the business has a good return on the investment and ability to service debt, it’s likely a good time to buy, regardless of rates," said Ken Bohenek, business intermediary at Murphy Business Sales in Northern Idaho. “Then, as rates soften, you’ll likely be in a much better cash flow position than those who bought when money was cheap and rates quickly escalated.” https://lnkd.in/eJXmdaBT #murphybusiness #interestrates #businessbrokerage #mergersandacquisitions #dealflow
