Forecast strong hurricane season presents risk for U.S. oil and natural gas industry. Meteorologists are forecasting a particularly intense Atlantic hurricane season this year; they expect 20-25 named storms with a possibility of 30 or more, according to reports from AccuWeather in April. Colorado State University similarly forecasts an estimated 23 named storms this year. The potential for a stronger hurricane season suggests heightened risk for weather-related production outages in the U.S. oil and natural gas industry.. http://ow.ly/Bqej105u0cG

Hurricane Beryl Hits Houston, Disrupting US Oil Industry🌪️ Hurricane Beryl, the earliest category 5 Atlantic storm in decades, struck Houston with 80mph winds, causing significant disruptions to the US oil industry. The storm shut down ports, curtailed refinery operations, and left millions without power. Major refineries reduced production, impacting crude demand and oil prices. While offshore production saw minimal disruption, analysts view Beryl as a warning for potentially more severe storms. Hurricane Preparedness will be crucial in what promises to be an unprecedented Hurricane season. Hurricane Season Poses Risks to Heating Season In the midst of another hurricane season, the Gulf Coast braces itself for potential disruptions that could impact vital energy infrastructure, thereby triggering significant fluctuations in energy prices. Past events, such as Hurricanes Katrina and Harvey, have vividly demonstrated the potential for these natural disasters to halt production and temporarily shut down refineries, as well as disrupt distribution networks. Anja Ristanovic of Hedge Solutions, Inc. provides insight. https://lnkd.in/egikmpRq #hurricaneseason #OilHeating #hedgingstrategies

Hurricane season is now upon us. Hurricane Francine made landfall at Louisiana yesterday, bringing heavy rainfall, and raising the risk of flash and flooding in Louisiana, Mississippi and far southern Alabama. Today, Gulf of Mexico gas production estimate came in at ~99.4 bcfd. Shut-ins at GOM today is estimated to be ~1.09 bcfd. GOM production yesterday was revised down by ~180 mmcfd. Francine is back to storm level. Storm Surge warning remains effective for coastal portions of LA, MS and AL. According to BSEE, personnel have been evacuated yesterday from 2 non-dynamically positioned rigs, out of the 5 rigs of this type currently operating in GOM. Shell remained production shut-ins at Perdido, Auger, and Enchilada/Salsa assets. Trunkline has brought back capacities as the storm continues to move further East from Texas. Nautilus declared Force Majeure on all its receipts, said there will be zero receipts from Gas Day, 12 September. However, there has been an upward trend in receipts on Nautilus from 12 September 2024. MS Canyon issued a notice early Thursday that Tagra-operated Venice Gas Plant is currently unable to receive gas from MS Canyon. This point was receiving ~250,000 MMBtu/d in the last 30 days, and we might see a drop of a similar magnitude in the receipts to Venice plant in the upcoming cycles. 9/10/24 Update: Tropical Storm #Francine is expected to strengthen into #Hurricane #Francine later today. Forecasted trajectory has shifted slightly east, and appears Texas will be less impacted than previously thought. Francine is expected to gain strength as it heads towards Louisiana and western Mississippi, where it will make landfall late Tuesday/early Wednesday bringing high winds, up to 12” of rain, and a 10’ storm surge. #WeatherWatch #HurricaneSeason #InfinityPowerPartners
Potential Tropical Cyclone Six is expected to become a tropical storm today in the southwestern Gulf of Mexico. Cyclone Six is expected to develop into a hurricane around Wednesday in the northwest Gulf of Mexico. Current forecasts show the Greater Houston area receiving up to 6” of rain with a 30-40% chance of >39 mph winds. Most likely forecast shows southern Louisiana as the most impacted area with slightly more rainfall and a greater chance of high winds. The system is disorganized and does not have a defined center, therefore forecasts are not precise. We will have a better idea of what to expect in the next 24 hrs and will continue keeping you updated as this develops. #TopicalCycloneSix #TropicalStorm #GulfofMexico #SeverWeatherUpdates #EnergyConsultant #InfinityPowerParterns

‘Life-threatening’ storm surge in Texas as Hurricane Beryl makes US landfall - Tom Brown at ICIS 08-Jul-24 13:54 -LONDON (ICIS)--Hurricane Beryl has made landfall in eastern Texas and looks set to batter parts of the state’s key petrochemicals production hub, with the US National Hurricane Center (NHC) warning of a life-threatening storm surge on Monday. The NHC confirmed in an 04:00 local time (09:00 GMT) update that the hurricane had drifted onto US soil at Matagorda on the Texas coast, with wind speeds of 80 mph (130 km/h) reported at the time. The storm winds have strengthened since then, with a monitoring station at Brazoria County Airport in Greater Houston reporting wind gusts of 85 mph (137 km/h) in an 06:00 local time (11:00 GMT) update from the NHC. Matagorda is situated between Corpus Christi and Houston, with the storm's path sweeping over several petrochemical complexes and some major hubs, including Dow's Freeport complex. Let me know if you need an overview which chemical complexes are set in the affected area. #chemicals #hurricane #petchems #energy #texas #icis #lnrs
