❌ So let me get this straight, company hiring a Content Manager: You want someone to write, AND edit and perform QA, AND handle the performance monitoring and reporting, AND determine the overall strategy? ❌ For blog content, AND email marketing, AND social media? (For the latter, also managing and strategizing for engagement?) 🎩🧢👒 Too many hats! Absolute recipe for employee burnout. Stretching your Content Manager too thin, across too many channels, with too many responsibilities -- including writing, which can be incredibly mentally draining, ask any professional copywriter! -- isn't going to be advantageous for the success of your brand's content marketing efforts! The job post I'm referring to should be three different people's jobs. Maybe not even full time, you could hire someone full time for whichever is most important, then work with contractors for other channels or tasks. Sounds like a nightmare, honestly. 🙏 Please, if your company feels they want to hire a content marketer, understand what a specific title like "Content Manager" should or should not entail, and how much would be too much to manage for one person. Otherwise, you're going to end up with high turnover, which frankly, will cost you more in the long run than properly investing in multiple workers instead of trying to turf 100% of everything to just one person. (At a not so great salary for all of that, too, tbqh!) I'm putting this out there for the benefit of people who might be considering hiring in this kind of fashion. Please reconsider. #hiring #contentmarketing #seo #contentmanagement #contentstrategy #copywriting

I’m hiring a founding product marketer at UserEvidence. If you’re an A-player who wants to own product marketing and be my right-hand person - keep reading. You’ll get to build the entire product marketing function from the ground up, work closely with every leader across the GTM team, and bring our customer voice platform to market. You’ll have clear goals, know what success looks like, and get strong support from the best agencies and freelancers around. And most importantly - you'll get to work directly with a CEO who gets marketing (sup Evan Huck). I want to bet on the right human. I’ve seen how much damage a two-person marketing team can do when both people compliment each other really well. Attitude and mindset are more important than having worked at a big name startup before. This might intimidate some but it’s an incredible opportunity to prove yourself in a big way. My email and LinkedIn DMs are open (not for recruiters) if this sounds like you. Link to the job description in the comments. #productmarketing #hiring PS I’m all about creative outreach if you’re serious about applying for this role

2x Head of Content @ Reddit & Taboola | Getting content marketers promoted by thinking beyond content.
You’re screwing yourself over with a content marketing title. If I was building a team from scratch, these are the titles I’d use: ► 1. I'd rename the team "Organic Marketing." The team would be a sister to the Paid Marketing team. ► 2. The new "Organic Marketing" dept would have the following channel leads: - SEO manager - Email marketing manager (not to be confused with marketing operations) - Social media manager - Partnerships manager - Creative content manager → What would each of these roles do? → 𝐒𝐄𝐎 𝐦𝐚𝐧𝐚𝐠𝐞𝐫 This person does not manage content creation. They look after strategy, briefs, and technical upkeep. → 𝐄𝐦𝐚𝐢𝐥 𝐦𝐚𝐫𝐤𝐞𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐦𝐚𝐧𝐚𝐠𝐞𝐫 The role is distinct from marketing operations because it's more focused on the creative and strategic aspect of email marketing, rather than the technical or operational side. → 𝐒𝐨𝐜𝐢𝐚𝐥 𝐦𝐞𝐝𝐢𝐚 𝐦𝐚𝐧𝐚𝐠𝐞𝐫 Focused solely on organic social media campaigns and community management. → 𝐏𝐚𝐫𝐭𝐧𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐡𝐢𝐩𝐬 𝐦𝐚𝐧𝐚𝐠𝐞𝐫 This person focuses on relationship building and partnerships for co-marketing opportunities. These channel leads would also manage agencies and entry-level channel employees. → 𝐂𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐯𝐞 𝐂𝐨𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐌𝐚𝐧𝐚𝐠𝐞𝐫 The creative content manager would manage contractors: - Writer - Graphic Designer - Videographer - Online events specialist - Interactive content developer ► 3. I'd also hire a Senior Content Strategist. The Senior Content Strategist would handle: - Strategy across channels - Calendar planning - Governance - Internal distribution of content ► 4. Finally, I'd get a Data Scientist on board. The data scientist would focus on reporting. Paid Marketing reporting is more straightforward. Tying organic content back to revenue requires deeper analysis and far more correlated data points. So, the full team would be: → Senior Content Strategist → SEO manager → Email marketing manager (not marketing operations) → Social media manager → Partnerships manager → Creative Content Manager, who manages: - Writer - Graphic Designer - Videographer - Online events specialist - Interactive content developer → Data Scientist (important!) How would you structure your team? #ContentMarketing #ContentTeams

Hey colleagues, Unfortunately, due to company restructuring, I was among several colleagues who were laid off recently at our small marketing firm. I was there for seven years and can honestly say it was one of the best jobs I’ve ever had. I felt lucky to work with a team of smart, creative, fun, hard-working people where I grew professionally and personally. I'm now seeking new challenges and the opportunity to apply my long-honed experience as a writer, data-driven content strategist, SEO expert and communicator to help my next employer (and myself!) grow, succeed and have fun in the process. If you or someone you know is hiring, please consider sharing my information with them. I’d love to reconnect, share more about my experience and catch up on what’s new. Ideally, I'm seeking a role as a Senior Content Strategist / Content Designer at a marketing agency, pharma company, healthcare IT company or healthcare provider. I’ve worked in the B2B and B2C healthcare realm for more years than I’d like to count (...let‘s just say it’s been at least 12!) and specialize in everything from internal communications, patient engagement, philanthropy communications/development, physician engagement, digital marketing for B2B and B2C, search engine optimization, UX design and so much more. I’ve created everything from training guides and videos to white papers and email campaigns. I’ve programmed and moderated conferences, webinars and focus groups; I’ve explained esoteric ICD codes and rules to providers; educated healthcare attorneys and executives about Medicare rules and regulations and even created Buzzfeed-type quizzes to engage patients in their own health for a health plan. I can write for consumer audiences, executives, employees, health plan members, patients and more. TLDR: I can turn nearly any topic in healthcare into engaging, actional communications that are informative, easy and fun to read. I’m open to full-time, in-person, remote or hybrid roles in the Washington, D.C./Maryland region (and beyond, for remote positions). I have awesome references and an unending supply of lame Dad jokes to share on command (and sometimes on whim). Thanks for your support. Here’s to the next chapter!

Hiring one in-house marketing team member can be quite expensive. Here’s a graphic breaking down the costs of hiring one content writer (data for the USA). So, if you need four content creators, it will cost you $383,760 (we’ve taken the average annual salary and tax amounts, so the final cost may be higher). In addition to the writer, you will also need to fill the following roles to form a content marketing team (with average yearly salaries according to Glassdoor): - Marketing manager—$96,830 - Content strategist—$75,183 - Email marketing specialist—$63,439 - SEO manager—$86,258 - Marketing data analyst—$73,049 - Social media manager—$59,938 - Graphic designer—$59,529 Read more: https://lnkd.in/dp5r6zyn
