We need science teacher, professors, counselors and industry to help us with these efforts! The key is not only to help a young a person gain their Dream Green Job, but it also about retaining them! Excellent summary of a seminar series on “(Re)Considering Planted Forests for the 21st Century,” which was hosted by The Forest School at the Yale School of the Environment and The Forests Dialogue in fall 2022. The series featured a wide range of experts, including our CSO Mark Wishnie who spoke about new opportunities for linking investment in commercial forestry with forest restoration (pp. 30-33). The series also included talks from speakers across academia, conservation nonprofits, the forest products industry, and Indigenous and forest-based communities, sharing various perspectives on the future of planted forests. It is well worth a read!

We have already revitalized many urban trees in cooperation with several Croatian cities and utility companies. 🌳 We have been taking care of trees since 1994. Globally rare Celtic rainforests have exceeded restoration targets by over 40% in the past year in Scotland, thanks to the efforts of Forestry and Land Scotland! With only 30,000 hectares remaining in Scotland in the 'hyper-oceanic' west coast area, we can't afford to lose any more. They're an important part of the #rewilding mosaic of habitats that once thrived in Britain 🌳 FLS have used a variety of methods to let these rare ecosystems recover, such as: 🌺 Removing invasive rhododendrons 🌳 Restoring ancient woodland sites 🦌 Managing deer to reduce the damage they do to young trees and ground vegetation FLS are doing their bit to help these unique and important ecosystems thrive for generations to come – we'd love to see more, naturally regenerated woodlands returning across Britain in the future.  Credit:  Tierney Lloyd / scotlandbigpicture .com
