Willmott Dixon’s Post

One of the areas our "Now or Never" strategy focuses on is connecting with education providers to showcase diverse construction roles beyond traditional perceptions. Last week, we hosted our annual Educate the Educator Day at our Weybridge office, attended by 25 careers leaders and tutors. They gained insights into construction disciplines, helping them guide students toward the industry's wide-ranging opportunities. As the industry face a skills shortage, supporting schools and colleges to meet Gatsby benchmarks and delivering social value in our communities remain priorities. Several Willmott Dixon colleagues shared their expertise and personal career journeys, receiving excellent feedback for their contributions. Pleasure to be a part of this, great bit of learning for me about some of my colleagues journeys in the industry and how much their roles differ from my expectations!

It's fantastic to see such a strong commitment to educating and inspiring the next generation about the diverse opportunities in construction! At Chichester College, we share the same passion for bridging the gap between education and industry, ensuring students are aware of the many career paths available to them. Initiatives like your Educate the Educator Day play a crucial role in addressing the skills shortage and supporting future talent. Great work by the Willmott Dixon team in making a real impact! 👏🏗️

This needs to be started at a younger age in schools. Educate them there is another way other than just University. Doing an apprenticeship can be even more valuable as you are gaining the experience whilst learning.

Really useful event and enlightening on what a Tier 1 contractor really needs to sustain its business. We all see actual construction sites and automatically think of the range of trades on site that physically create that drawing of the project but we don't think about the infrastructure a large company needs to make that happen. Real education from Willmott Dixon Team on how a project gets from A to B and sometimes C. Thank you for the invite and the honesty of your staff showed discussing their entry and progression into the construction industry.
