Next month, Asian Development Bank (ADB) kicks off it replenishment for its grant facility Asian Development Fund (ADF14). This replenishment will cover the 2025–2028 funding period and is expected to raise at least as much as AFD13's US$4B. It will be interesting to see where the US comes in, especially since nearly 30% of ADF13 funding went to climate financing. Here is a report from Lowy Institute: https://lnkd.in/geMh9Ees

With an increased risk of pandemics driven by climate change, migration, fragility and conflicts, the role of the #PandemicFund is proving to be, once again, crucial to support low and middle income countries countries to prevent, prepare for, and respond to pandemics, based on a One Health approach. The Pandemic Fund has just concluded its second funding round, with US$418 million in new grants designed to bolster pandemic prevention, preparedness, and response capacities in 40 countries across six geographical regions. These grants will provide much-needed investments to strengthen disease surveillance and early warning systems, upgrading laboratories, and building health workforce. Over 50 percent of the funds are for countries in sub-Saharan Africa. The Pandemic Fund also showed flexibility with the additional, fast-tracked US$128.89 million approved in September to support 10 countries impacted by mpox outbreaks. The Pandemic Fund’s two rounds of funding to date amount to US$885 million, mobilizing an additional US$6 billion in support of 75 countries, half of which are low- and middle-income countries. Grants from the Pandemic Fund catalyze co-financing from governments and technical expertise from an array of accredited Implementing Entities. The Pandemic Fund’s Governing Board includes equal representation of sovereign contributors and co-investor countries, as well as representatives from foundations/non-sovereign contributors and civil society organizations. #OneHealth
