The 108th video/photo clip in my #amateurradio series discusses using #gpsdevices (or better to say #gnss receivers) in #hamradio activities, such as #pactor radio #email exchange with international partners. Besides transferring email with #scs #p4dragon #dr7400 pactor modem and an #hf radio transmitter, LinBPQ #software offers this operator a good way to make his location known to other #network participants, by using a dedicated VHF frequency and #RIGblaster modem attached to Radioddity #gd77 #DMR & FM transmitter. That part of ham activity is called #APRS. This time I talk about using so-called GPS-mice by (YIC) Yuechung International Corp. and hand-held receivers by Bad Elf, LLC that are different in their nature, but provide good results in APRS networks. While the clip No. 67 introduced positioning systems as such and usage of a stand-alone APRS software, here we operate a more complex and multi-functional software, LinBPQ, where APRS function is implemented as an added-value option.

For those who heard my tale from the field on Manufacturing Hub Network with Dave and Vladimir regarding VFDs not responding to starts issued by the PLC, captures exposing DLR Supervisor being enabled on an EN2TR plugged into a non-DLR network yadda yadda yadda…I have an UPDATE for you. Customer had the opportunity to take our suggestion of unchecking that pesky little checkbox and had this to say about the before and after: “We had a LOT of phone calls for days to help with these VFDs. It’s been peace and quiet since the change.” We also got an updated capture - results below.
