WinnCompanies community Mission Main Apartments in Boston, MA had a very special visit and performance last week from The Regiment, the horn section of Justin Timberlake's band, Tennessee Kids. The band stopped by before their two performances at TD Garden that weekend to perform for the Mission Main community, and signed autographs and answered questions from the young kids in the crowd. Their message of dedication to their craft and success was inspiring to all, sharing their journey that led them to perform and/or record with such artists as Kelly Clarkson, Timbaland, Jennifer Lopez and many, many more. Thank you to Senior Community Coordinators Jayme Bonds and Tara Mosley, the Mission Main team, and the Mission Main Tenant Task Force for hosting a wonderful event for the community!

As a 4-H alumni I can attest that 4-H prepares you for life! 4-H was a great experience. I have pulled an excerpt from the opinion article attached. Raising hogs, spending all summer working with them, and then selling them was difficult for most 4-H'ers...I was a kid who cried the day after the sale. You understood where they were going and you had a bond with that animal because of the hard work and time spent. You also knew that you were putting a quality protein on someone's table. Older club members would come over and give you a hug, tell you it's okay...then as you got older, it was your turn to console your friends...these are some of the skills that 4-H teaches you without realizing you are being taught... Empathy, compassion, kindness. I agree with the author...a 4-H'er is who I want when things are tough. ...And more than disappointment: In 4-H, you learn about death. While I was studying how to poultice hoofs and identify tack, my peers in other clubs were raising animals for more utilitarian purposes. Immaculate plush-coated steers, inquisitive pigs, enormous complacent turkeys were raised from birth to be judged at the fair and then sold to the highest bidder for consumption. We’d often see tears during the final separation; 4-H’ers are children — not monsters ―many of whom put their sale earnings toward college tuition. But still, lesson learned. It takes a certain type of kid to send a creature they fed with a bottle or saw hatched from an egg to someone’s dinner table. I want that kid on my dystopian survival team.... #4H #pennstateextension #youthdevelopment
My wife and I met in 4-H in Ohio 5 decades ago. The lessons we learned in 4-H helped prepare us for our service in the Army and Navy. Now that we have retired from the military, we use those lessons to help us run a small sheep farm. 4-H can help you in life, not just surviving the apocalypse. #4-H

Imagine a place where the silent sacrifices of military families are not only recognized but also actively supported. Where nature's tranquility heals, and the collective voice of a community advocates for the unseen and unheard. This is the story of the Betsy Eves Group—a narrative of how passion, when paired with purpose, can ignite a beacon of hope for military spouses, caregivers, and their families. But why does this work matter? Because behind every uniform, there is a family—a network of individuals whose love, resilience, and sacrifices underpin the very freedoms we cherish. Our efforts go beyond mere acknowledgment; they strive to ensure that these families are empowered, supported, and honored not just in words, but in every action we take. The challenges facing military families continue to evolve, and so too must our efforts to support them. Our annual letter is not just a reflection of what we've achieved but a clarion call to action. It's an invitation to join us in this mission of hope, healing, and empowerment. To stand with us as we advocate for change, nurture connections, and celebrate the unwavering spirit of our military families. Download and read our full 2024 Annual Letter today. Let it be a reminder of the impact we can achieve together, and the enduring power of a community united in purpose and compassion. https://lnkd.in/gHC2Q5Vm

Honor a Veteran for Memorial Day On this Memorial Day, I am honoring my Uncle Romie who was a cook in the army. He was a Forest Ranger and dressed up as Smokey the Bear to do education programs for the local community. He would climb the fire tower and look for forest fires in the national forests. His fire tower was like the one in the photo. Uncle Romie looked for something to laugh about because he reported me to my Mom for hitting boys with my red purse on the playground in elementary school which was across the road from his fire tower. I know he saw this as a random act of kindness for the boys on the playground and for me, too. I did stop the behavior after my Mom explained this would limit my supply of purses. The biggest win you can have for your organization or business is to focus on what value your strategy creates for your customers, employees, and community. Like Uncle Romie, finding the good in things and the value you bring to others is one of the keys to developing your strategy. The value is in the eyes of the beholder. What can you start doing to communicate your value to the person you are presenting to or serving? What can you stop doing that does not add value to the person you are presenting to or serving? What new strategy can you create to honor a veteran in your community? What is a random act of kindness you can do today to honor a veteran in your life? #strategy #OwnYourValue #MemorialDay #RandomActofKindness Photo of a Fire Tower in East Texas.
