We're proud to be involved in helping to build the SH1 Loop Road, with a 25-year highway design, and 100-year structure design with the supply of high-quality materials. "We've been really impressed with the level of service, support, and technical knowledge of the Winstone Aggregates Otaika team," says Lance Vazey, Project Manager at Oxcon. "It's been a real collaborative effort between Oxcon, our subcontractors EarthworX, Firth and Winstone Aggregates to deliver." The quarry worked extensively with Oxcon and subcontractors to understand the performance of newly produced materials and make minor modifications to achieve spec. The Winstone Aggregates pugmill has the added bonus of being able to plant-mix offsite and deliver efficiently on the ground.

𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐣𝐞𝐜𝐭 𝐇𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐥𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐭: 𝐒𝐩𝐫𝐢𝐧𝐠𝐰𝐞𝐥𝐥 𝐒𝐞𝐫𝐯𝐢𝐜𝐞 𝐑𝐞𝐬𝐞𝐫𝐯𝐨𝐢𝐫 🌊 We’re proud to have played a pivotal role in the construction of the 𝐒𝐩𝐫𝐢𝐧𝐠𝐰𝐞𝐥𝐥 𝐒𝐞𝐫𝐯𝐢𝐜𝐞 𝐑𝐞𝐬𝐞𝐫𝐯𝐨𝐢𝐫, a key project for Northumbrian Water to improve water resilience for South Tyneside and Wearside. This 43ML semi-precast reservoir, located near Washington, Tyne and Wear, will benefit over 50,000 properties directly and provide resilience for a further 200,000 properties across the region. At FLI Precast Solutions, our team was engaged early in the project by Mott MacDonald Bentley (MMB) to deliver a semi-precast concrete solution designed for durability, efficiency, and quality. Our Contribution ✅ 𝐏𝐫𝐞𝐜𝐚𝐬𝐭 𝐖𝐚𝐥𝐥 𝐏𝐚𝐧𝐞𝐥𝐬: Manufactured off-site to improve quality control and reduce on-site disruption. ✅ 𝐏𝐫𝐞𝐜𝐢𝐬𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐃𝐞𝐬𝐢𝐠𝐧: Collaborative design integration to ensure the structural integrity of this large-scale reservoir. ✅ 𝐓𝐢𝐦𝐞 & 𝐂𝐚𝐫𝐛𝐨𝐧 𝐄𝐟𝐟𝐢𝐜𝐢𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐲: Off-site manufacturing and installation reduced project timelines while optimising environmental benefits. By partnering early with the project team, we delivered solutions that streamlined the construction process and aligned with the project's goals for quality and sustainability. This reservoir is a prime example of how collaboration, innovative methods, and precision engineering can create infrastructure that makes a lasting difference. 👏 A huge thank you to Northumbrian Water, MMB, and all stakeholders involved in this essential project. #FLIPrecast #ProjectHighlight #SpringwellReservoir #WaterResilience #Collaboration #InnovativeEngineering #SustainableConstruction #WaterSector

The Sprayed Concrete industry is projected to grow from USD 9,728.1 million in 2024 to USD 17,092.7 million by 2032, exhibiting a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 7.3% during the forecast period (2024 - 2032). 📊 𝐃𝐨𝐰𝐧𝐥𝐨𝐚𝐝 𝐒𝐚𝐦𝐩𝐥𝐞 @ https://lnkd.in/g_YRzpdN ➡ Sprayed concrete, also known as shotcrete, has been revolutionizing the construction industry with its cost-effective, durable, and efficient application, especially in underground and water-retaining infrastructure projects. ➡ Sprayed concrete is applied pneumatically, which reduces formwork and allows for faster and more flexible construction, making it an ideal choice for tunneling, mine stabilization, and even slope protection. ➡ The demand for underground construction and the repair of infrastructure has been driving the market’s expansion, especially with upcoming large-scale projects like tunnels in Sydney and New York’s second Avenue Subway. Additionally, the rise in the construction of water-retaining structures, such as dams, reservoirs, and tanks, is expected to further boost the market. Joining us in the Thursday morning session at this year's UK Concrete Show will be Ben Garner, Head of Logistics, Developments and Standards at Tarmac. The free-to-attend event dedicated to the UK concrete industry takes place from 26-27 February at the NEC Birmingham. As part of the session 'Ready for the revolution: from drive-throughs to eMixers', Ben will present 'Electrifying! Concrete delivery and low carbon outcomes'. The transportation model for readymix concrete is perfect for early electrification. Trucks are often single-shifted, travel short distances to customer sites and typically return to the same base plant allowing a simple and cost-effective charging setup. But there remain a number of barriers that are delaying the widespread adoption of eMixers. In this session we will explore those barriers and how to remove them, accelerating the uptake of eMixers. Lowering the carbon footprint of readymix concrete, improving air quality in urban areas and construction sites and improving road safety, eMixers are the future for concrete delivery. Exactly! 8,857 is how many steel-reinforced concrete rings are in place underground as part of our giant 4.5-metre diameter wastewater tunnel, the Central Interceptor. Each ring is made up of six segments that are fitted together underground. The segments of reinforced concrete are purpose-built at Wilson Group’s factory in East Tāmaki. Each one is 2,400mm long, 1,600mm wide, 330mm thick and weighs 3.5-tonnes. A plastic liner is added during manufacturing to protect against the corrosive effects of wastewater. The 14.1km mark of the tunnel is in the team’s dust, but there are still more rings to put in place as they head for the 16.2km mark. When they reach that point their work will be done and that'll be precious 💍 Ghella Abergeldie Joint Venture (GAJV) #CentralInterceptor #infrastructure #construction #tunnelling #tunneling #tunnels #WaterIndustry #wastewater #work #Teamwork #OnTheTools
