To my contacts with only 20 spaces to go can we see if we can get a few to sponsor some spaces at this event looking at Black women in policing led by Karen Geddes QPM BA (Hons) This conference in Birmingham will create an environment where Black women's talents, unique experiences, and perspectives are acknowledged, respected, and valued. They will discuss: - Why is there such a disparity of Black women in senior leadership roles compared to their white counterparts by reviewing and analysing data - How does this impact Black women and how can they be supported to survive and thrive in this workplace culture? - Does addressing racism and sexism include the experiences of Black women? - What are the implications and impact of a lack of Black women diversity for organisations such as the police? - How do we celebrate and give a voice to those Black women who have completed 30 years of service? RARE in-person speaking event coming up! About 15 years ago, a woman I worked with made compelling arguments about why attending International Women's Day (IWD) events was so important; which is a story for another day... Since then I've made a point of being present for at least one IWD each year. This year, I'm honoured to be one of the speakers at the Town of Gananoque's "Empowering Women in a DigitALL Age" IWD event. I'll be sharing success stories of women entrepreneurs who live and work in Canada. Because when you experience stories of people you can relate to, then you can imagine navigating your own path to success. The vast majority of my speaking gigs are delivered online, and limited to specific groups of people. While I rarely speak in public, I thoroughly enjoy the experience! Especially when people ask questions. I'm looking forward to returning to the beautiful and welcoming town of Gananoque, to share some of what I know, while learning from the fabulous speakers and guests. Whether it’s lifting up other women, sitting on the board of Women in Defense Michigan Chapter, Women Impacting Public Policy (WIPP), or drawing attention to the inequalities we face daily.
