We're honored to announce that Inc. Magazine has named Alma as one of #IncBestWorkplaces of 2024 for the third consecutive year!
"We care deeply about normalizing mental health and creating an environment for our employees that makes people feel comfortable showing up as their authentic selves. Our company has a 'time out' policy that allows people to take two additional paid days off per year (and expense therapy sessions) to take time to process during traumatic events. The company designed its benefits to support employee wellness, and we offer a $1,400 annual stipend for therapy as well as an expanded family leave policy of 16 weeks for all new parents."

Taking a moment to recharge isn't a sign of weakness—it's a power move! ⚡️✨ Strong mental health fuels success in the workplace. 🌿💼 Let's celebrate self-care, encourage each other to pause, and witness the transformation! 💪❤️

In 2021, we introduced a new concept called “Recreation leave”. As a standard, all employees at Inspire accrue 10 days of sick & carer's leave per year, which in total converts to 75 hours.
Employees who have accrued more than 75 hours of sick & carer's leave, can now take up to 1 day per month of Recreational Leave and claim it as sick & carer's leave. We understand that life in the 21st century can be fast-paced and hectic.
In the spirit of mental health and wellbeing, we are hopeful that Recretional Leave will enable employees to pause and take time to do things they love.
This could be used for many things such has spending time with your family at the beach, or going on a fishing trip. The options are endless!

🌟#SelfCare Tip for the #SandwichGeneration of Caregivers 👉🏾"Seek Refuge Through the Power of Your RELATIONSHIPS."
As we concluded up #MentalHealthAwarenessMonth, the final edition 📙 of my 'Mental Health in the Middle' series for the Mid-Career Mastery newsletter focused on an often overlooked group:
👉🏾 "Sandwiched caregivers" juggling the overwhelming responsibilities of caring for both aging parents and their own children—all while trying to navigate their own careers and personal lives.
And despite Mental Health Awareness Month ending in May, these challenges faced by sandwich caregivers are not over...
They remain relevant...Every. Single. Day .
In this article titled "Why Self-Care for the Sandwich Caregiver is a Mental Health and Wellness Mandate," — I unpacked 3 essential self-care tips, particularly for the sandwich generation.
And today, I want to highlight the first tip:
🔶 Seek Refuge Through the Power of Your RELATIONSHIPS.
Below are also the key actions outlined in the article to help strengthen your relationship support as caregivers:
👉🏾 Lean into your support network: This includes family, friends, or support groups who can provide emotional relief and assistance specific to your caregiving needs.
👉🏾 Build a circle of care: Amplify your journey and engage with other caregivers who understand your experiences. Sharing stories and strategies with those in similar situations can offer comfort and practical advice.
👉🏾 Openly communicate with your employer: Many organizations offer flexible work arrangements, employee assistance programs, and other resources designed to support caregivers.
To illustrate further, here is a quick video🎥 where I talk a little more about the power of relationships, especially during the hectic "traffic jam" of your middle years.
As mentioned in the video:
↪️"In your middle years, it can get lonely. You may have people around you—but lonely and alone are two different things."
So make sure you also check out the full article for more insights and stories on being a "sandwich generation' caregiver:

Could self-care be the fulcrum, the mid-point, between selfishness and selflessness?
None of us wants to wear the label of being ‘selfish’, as it implies that we have a lack of consideration for others. Yet, fixating solely on ‘selfless’ devotion to others is hardly an ideal alternative. So, where is the middle ground?
Enter self-care—an intriguing concept to be sure. Defined as a series of behaviours aimed at fostering wholistic personal well-being. It involves maintaining one's own physical, mental, emotional and spiritual health.
This approach appears to by-pass the limitations of selfishness and selflessness by presenting a perspective on personal welfare, that does not neglect our responsibility to others. It may actually decrease the weight associated with that burden.
Could self-care be the balance we've been seeking? Why don’t we try a little experiment. Let’s practice one new task that promotes our personal self-care each day for a week. At the end of the week, we can re-group and compare notes. Are you ready?
