Great to see the start of this type of investment in women’s health research. We need to keep putting a focus on this systemic unconscious bias and work together to prioritize women’s health research and care. Also, ♨️“Only 1% of global healthcare #research and development dedicated to female-specific conditions” - WEF 31 Jan 2024.* ♨️Neuroscientists know little to none about how pregnancy, menopause, hormonal birth control, and PMS or premenstrual dysphoric disorder - to name but a few - affect the brain, and ♨️Only 0.5 percent have focused on health issues specific to women, out of around 50,000 neuroimaging studies completed since the mid-90s. 🌏These have been significant & long overdue gaps that require urgent & proper #policies, agencies, structures, #funds, resources, talents and #innovation to address. Research into women's health is essential to not simply DELIVER state of the art healthcare (our aspiration at Aneira Health) but also to ADVANCE the state of the art - even many high prevalence conditions like Endometriosis, Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome and others have very limited diagnostics and no curative therapeutics (let alone less prevalent conditions!). Many hormone-driven conditions remain reliant on trial and error to get to good outcomes. We can and must do better - but only by linking our clinical delivery work, and the communities we serve, with research work. Every women's health clinic should be a lab, where informed communities of women and the teams that serve them are working together to advance the science at the same time as delivering smart and deeply human care.

The recent executive order by President Biden, allocating $12bn to women's health research, represents a significant commitment to addressing the historical underfunding in this vital area. Ema recognizes the potential of this initiative to fuel groundbreaking discoveries and improve health outcomes for women.
