Feminist Communities for Climate Justice, a partnership between the National Women’s Council of Ireland and Community Work Ireland, unveils a report spotlighting how Ireland's current #climatepolicies worsen inequalities for marginalised groups. Led by esteemed academics from University College Cork, including Dr. Fiona Dukelow, the report highlights critical gaps in addressing the unique challenges faced by #women, disabled individuals, travellers, and others in the #climateaction discourse. Key findings underscore the urgent need for inclusive decision-making spaces, #gender specific data, and recognition of the #green and #lowcarbon nature of care work in #climatepolicies. The report also emphasises the necessity of #justtransition plans that actively reduce disparities and enable broader participation. It was inspiring to see the spotlight on women during Climate Week NYC 2024. Programs like these highlight the critical role women are playing in driving climate action and solutions. From entrepreneurship to policy, women are leading the charge, proving that diversity is key to tackling the complex issues of climate change. It’s encouraging to see platforms elevating female voices, ensuring our perspectives are heard and our contributions recognized. Upon reflection, the 𝗶𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗱𝗲𝗽𝗲𝗻𝗱𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲 𝗼𝗳 𝗱𝗶𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗶𝘁𝘆, 𝗲𝗾𝘂𝗶𝘁𝘆, 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗶𝗻𝗰𝗹𝘂𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗶𝘀 𝗰𝗹𝗲𝗮𝗿: 🔗 Seek out experts with diverse backgrounds, experience, and perspectives to generate more innovative and equitable solutions 🔗 Recognize and understand the historical and ongoing impact of systems of oppression in order to remove barriers 🔗 Begin with a listen-first approach to ensure inclusive dialogues that generate trust for authentic engagement Excited to see us tackling this head-on.🙌 #LetsCloseTheGap

Too true unfortunately, but community centric projects are looking well suited to renewables, presenting manageable storage requirements locally, finally. With clever structuring, I see a path to developing these projects in a way that transitions those who are unable to transition themselves, while also saving on their monthly expenses… or are least locking them in 😅 It’s going to take diverse funding, synergistic partnerships, community ownership, and careful adjustments in margins! This is the flexibility we’re aiming for by building out as a Social Enterprise.

Just back from the UN Global Compact Network UK Summit 2024 on bridging the ambition to action gap. A standout was hearing from Beccy Davies on the FCDO WOW Toolkit – a practical approach to tackling women’s inequality in global supply chains. It really brought home the intersection between women’s rights and climate action, and how we can drive change through thoughtful, inclusive solutions. #Sustainability #WomensRights #ClimateAction #SupplyChains #UNGCUKSummit24

All studies confirm that women are/and will be disproportionally affected by the #climate #change crisis. But there are also interesting, inspiring initiatives like WEA Women's Earth Alliance the U.S. a grassroots movement « on a mission to protect our environment, end the climate crisis, and ensure a just, thriving world by empowering women’s leadership. » ➡ This Accelerator supports a diverse group of women leaders from across the country to deepen their strategies for change, build powerful alliances within and across movements, and scale their solutions for environmental protection, health, and justice. #ClimateChange #GrassrootsMovement #Women
