Jakob Bendixen and Thomas Weile have both participated in the #WorldHydrogenWeek2024 in Copenhagen this week 🌍♻🔝 The event offered lots of insights and many interesting discussions – and not least, the opportunity to meet fellow hydrogen enthusiasts and industry colleagues. - - - - - - - - - - While reflecting on the events of the past few days, Thomas has written the following: “The past two days showcased inspiring exhibitions and insightful panels, with technical innovation taking center stage. However, a key challenge is identified: the disconnect between the supply and demand sides of the hydrogen value chain. On the supply side, there’s huge ambition, with large-scale projects ready to move but stuck waiting for final investment decisions (FID) and securing offtakers. On the demand side, buyers remain hesitant, cautious about committing to contracts now due to the risk of significant price reductions in the near future, which could diminish the first-mover advantage. Additionally, geopolitical concerns about balancing supply security with achieving the lowest production costs play a major role in decision-making. The market reacts primarily to price signals, often pushing governments to intervene with subsidies to shape the market and achieve the ambitions set. PPAs and HPAs (Hydrogen Purchase Agreements) will play an essential role in forming long-term agreements that support the Power-to-X sector, as stabilizing costs and managing risks are crucial for driving the industry forward. Our New Energy is the leading PPA advisor, able to assist both ends of the value chain with in-depth knowledge of the energy market and a broad geographical presence.” Feel free to reach out to Thomas if you would like to discuss anything further, or please consider writing down your thoughts in the comment section. We hope to see some of you again for World Hydrogen Week 2025! 👋 #OurNewEnergy #WorldHydrogenWeek #WHW #Hydrogen #PPA #HPA #GreenTransition #Copenhagen #Networking

Celebrated coming back to Denmark after a month in Spain by attending World Hydrogen Leaders #WorldHydrogenWeek together with Jakob Bendixen! Very interesting learning more about the technical side of the value chain at the Expo. The interplay with the market mechanisms at play in the hydrogen and general energy sector is crucial to determine its feasibility when evaluating the business case.

Excellent affirmation of DNV's strength in Hydrogen. Ann Halford has been selected for the 2024 edition of Hydrogen Economist’s list of top 50 Women in Hydrogen, in the Technology & Innovation category. Now in its third year, the Women in Hydrogen 50 profiles fifty influential and boundary-pushing women within this growing sector. Establishing a hydrogen economy is of critical importance for decarbonizing the hard to abate sectors (industry, transport, maritime, etc), but it’s also vital for energy security and resilience. Our newly published Energy Transition Outlook UK 2024 predicts that the nation will produce 5 MtH2/y (equivalent to about 25 GW of hydrogen) by 2050, so there is a need for women’s voices and diversity within this industry to be highlighted.
