Today, on Women's Health Wednesday, we celebrate First Lady, Dr. Jill Biden. In addition to her role as First Lady, Dr. Biden is a community college educator, military mother, grandmother, and best selling author. When it comes to women's health, she has big plans. Late last year, she and President Biden announced the first-ever White House Initiative on Women's Health Research to fundamentally change how we approach and fund women's health research. And, today, Dr. Biden announced the initiative's first major deliverable. The Advanced Research Projects Agency for Health (ARPA-H) is launching its first "Sprint for Women's Health." Over the next year, ARPA-H will invest $100 million to fund life changing research. Dr. Biden shared her goal of building "a healthcare system that puts women and their lived experiences at its center. Where no woman or girl has to hear that 'it's all in your head,' or, 'it's just stress.' Where women aren't just an afterthought, but a first-thought. Where women don't just survive, they lead long, healthy, and happy lives." We are here for all of it. #FridayFeature: Unveiling the Power of Being "In the Room When steering the ship of transformation, early on, I immersed myself in books and videos, seeking mentors in the digital realm. Reading and watching were stepping stones, but a revelation dawned—solo efforts wouldn't catapult me to my desired destination. To truly ascend, I realized I needed to step into the room! 🤝 In the nascent stages of reshaping my life, I devoured the wisdom of perceived mentors through texts and screens. Yet, a crystal-clear realization emerged. Absorbing insights from their work was valuable, but I intuited the existence of untapped knowledge, not shared in their free content. The missing piece? The key to leveling up was to be "in the room" where exclusive advice flowed freely. And why settle for a book when you can sit face-to-face, absorbing the crème de la crème of wisdom? Fortunately, I've been privileged to occupy these rooms—spaces where men execute the very feats I aspired to. In the company of such men, inspiration became contagious! And as we celebrate the power of being "in the room," let's also applaud the monumental strides in women's health. Recently, during an Advanced Research Projects Agency for Health (ARPA-H) forum, First Lady Dr. Jill Biden announced a $100 million infusion into life-changing research, marking the commencement of ARPA-H's "Sprint for Women's Health." This initiative, as Dr. Biden envisions, will script new narratives in women's healthcare.
