This National Poetry Month, we're diving into the timeless wisdom of Maya Angelou's powerful poem, "Equality." 🌟🕊️ In this stirring work, Angelou eloquently captures the essence of the human struggle for justice and dignity, weaving together themes of equality, resilience, and hope. Through her masterful use of language and imagery, she invites readers to contemplate the universal yearning for fairness and unity, transcending barriers of race, gender, and circumstance. As we reflect on Angelou's words, let us recommit ourselves to the pursuit of equality in our communities and beyond.

Is our (governments, supra-governments, power weiders) sense of equality turning us into Procrustes of Greek mythology who attacked people by stretching them or cutting off their legs, so as to force them to fit the size of an iron bed?. In trying to enforce equality are we losing the sight of equity? Shouldn't our sense of equity be much like an orchestra. If you're interested in a thought-provoking exploration of the potential downsides of a rigid pursuit of equality, "The Bed of Procrustes" offers valuable insights. However, keep in mind Taleb's focus on critiquing extremes, and the book itself goes beyond just the concept of equality.

January 3, 2024 marked the 9th anniversary of the publication of my memoir, No! Maybe? Yes! Living My Truth. It is much more than just a memoir of my gender transition, and many people both within and outside the trans community have made comments that it is an inspiring book, inviting all people to live their truth, live authentically, knowing who they really and truly are and allowing that truth out into the world. Comments included from within the trans community: "You have articulated the feeling that I have had, but could never put the words to." "You have let me know I can accept the male parts of me, and do not have to kill them!" From the cis community, i have heard: '"This should be a best seller for everyone to read." "This book is really a love story." So The poster above asks the question for you to consider. Are you living your truth? Have you chosen to stand up and dance to the song in your heart? In the comments I am adding the link to the book. If you have not yet read it, its story is timeless, and important for everyone. If you have read it, and you know someone who may learn something on their own journey let the know, or even gift them the book. Happy New Year to each of you. Live Your Truth.

Good article. 💖💖💖
The Right to Comfort and Decolonization The ‘right to comfort’ is an unstated privilege often embedded within white consciousness—a belief that comfort, ease, and a seamless existence are almost natural rights that should not be disrupted. This psyche manifests when white people engage with decolonization in ways that do not threaten their standing, power, or material benefits. It becomes evident when hard truths about colonial legacies are met with defensiveness or calls for civility rather than reflection and action (Tuck & Yang, 2012). New Blog Here:

This research paper discusses Arundhati Roy's novels, The God of Small Things and The Ministry of Utmost Happiness, with an emphasis on the Third-Wave and Fourth Wave feminism of the post-1990s, by employing two towering figures of second-wave feminism, Simon de Beauvoir and Helene Cixous. It assesses Roy's contributions to these two waves, thoroughly comprehending her writings and the feminist movement.
