The business landscape has changed rapidly over the past year, and yet the percentage of Fortune 500 companies with women CEOs has remained stagnant at 10.4% (https://lnkd.in/e2jiVPQS ). Similarly, the percentage of US corporate board seats held by women has stalled at a little under 30% (https://lnkd.in/e8TQQsxB).   This lack of growth and gender diversity is concerning... but not insurmountable. It simply underscores the importance of providing the tools and resources women leaders need to advance their careers.    As a part of this, we're striving every day at Chief to help members reach their individual leadership goals through a customizable membership experience, curated networking events and educational workshops, and hands-on support.    I encourage my network to continue showing up for women leaders, and I hope that next year we see more companies with women at the helm!

At LeadWomen, 2023 was a year of 𝓇𝑒𝓈𝑒𝓉, 𝑔𝓇𝑜𝓌𝓉𝒽 𝒶𝓃𝒹 𝒶𝒸𝓉𝒾𝑜𝓃. (Watch the video below to see our favourite moments!) The team started the year exploring what LeadWomen means to us, to our community and most importantly, what our #purpose was in driving thought leadership on diversity, equity and inclusion as well as women on boards and in leadership. This year we embarked on new journeys: ♀️♂️ Going beyond with our International Women’s Day celebration From March till October this year, we extended our conversation to include #WomeninPeace #WomeninMarketing #WomeninFilm #WomeninSTEAM #WomeninSports #WomeninHealth and of course, to #InternationalMensDay 🟰Turning intention to action:  The launch of our #EqualityatWork Corporate Community where a selected group of companies who are serious about DEI at work came together to discuss what can be done within their organisations. At the same time, the launch of our #InclusivePlaybook programme provides organisations with the tools needed to build an inclusive strategy that leaves no one behind, while having some fun with the learning! 👭Sustaining the women leadership pipeline:  Our first #EmergingWomenLeaders cohort graduated this year with positive reviews, showing that there is a need and urgency to develop a new generation of women leaders that are ready to lead inclusively, sustainably and with their strengths! Aside from this, our #community in the board space has only grown from strength to strength, having featured new members to share their expertise through our power hours and also bringing back our in-person Meet and Greets! Together with our amazing partners, clients and community members, we have accomplished so much in the last 12 months and yet, there is still more to achieve. Diverse leadership is not only socially important, but it also makes a business sense. We have seen enough studies showing that companies with more women on boards and in senior leadership have higher turnover, lower employees churn, and stronger brand equity. Thinks are certainly improving. Retail Week recently reported that 1/3 of new retail CEO appointments were female. Thank you Megan Dunsby for sharing. We have so many incredible senior women in our community already. The discussions we are all having show that we really need to start early and work across all levels to inspire more diverse leadership. This is just one of the reasons why I started Women of Retail community. We are running research on fmelae leadership and invite both women and men to fill it in. It is disheartening to see that the share of Fortune 500 companies run by women CEOs has stagnated at 10.4%.
