✨ New Event Alert! ✨ We’re not slowing down! We are happy to invite you to our upcoming event! Join us on July 11th at CRIDO Office for an engaging panel discussion on #ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) with outstanding guests in this field. We can already reveal that our keynote speaker will be: Roksana Kałużna-Bałazy, board member of Sustainable Investment Forum Poland (POLSIF). #ESG is a buzzword that tends to pop up everywhere. The challenge to Milton Friedman’s claim that “there is one and only one social responsibility of business… to increase its profit”, or at least reshaping the way business is done, seems to come not only from EU legislation proposals or theories of academics from Western hemisphere, but even from business leaders and consumers. Yet, it still seems distant, politicized and maybe even confusing from Polish businesses perspective. At WOM&AN, Association for Women in M&A, we want to help. Join us to actively explore during the meeting: 🍀 Is sustainability actually transactionally relevant, or is it just a buzzword? 🍀Why should we care and commission ESG due diligence? 🍀How could sustainability postulate influence a transaction’s rationale, and could ESG risks actually kill the deal? 🍀What are ESG risks, why should we be concerned, and do we have tools to address them? 🌐 The event will be streamed online and conducted in English, so all our members, even those abroad, can participate! 📅 Mark your calendars for July 11th and prepare for an insightful discussion that will help demystify #ESG and its impact on business. 📍 We will gather at 5:30 pm at CRIDO Office in Warsaw (Towarowa 28). We look forward to seeing you there! With limited spots available exclusively for our members, please secure your place by emailing: events@womeninmna.com 📧 (until July 5th at the latest) Last, but not least, this event would not be possible without our partners – WTW and CRIDO. A very big thank you to them! 🙋♀️ Become a member: https://lnkd.in/dznpxGmy #WOMAN #ESG #Sustainability #CorporateGovernance #Event #Business #Discussion #July11 #WOMANAssociation #woman #womeninbusiness #women #networking #networkingevent

Social aspect of ESG goes beyond more stringent reporting regulations. As business is all about people, the value resides in a human capital. To realize this value we need to unleash the potential that resides in the employees. This is a simplistic summary of our conference from last week. Watch a video for more and stay tuned for our upcoming events. #esg #sustainability

We examined how to navigate an evolving regulatory landscape and the ways in which strategically investing in social issues can enhance both corporate reputation and brand trust. Yesterday was official #EarthDay2024 – the day that reminds us all of our extraordinary planet and its people, and even more so of the need for us to come together to take action to protect and preserve. #GlobalCompactDenmark couldn’t have chosen a better day for their annual conference on ‘Fremtidens bæredygtighed & ESG' (The future of sustainability and ESG) – a full programme dedicated to the important role companies play when it comes to moving #ForwardFaster and most importantly, turn pledges into progress. For me, the most important take-aways were actually around two types of ‘forward’: #forwardthinking and #forwarddoing. Futurist #JonasGisselMikkelsen introduced ‘foresight’ as the new competence companies need to develop. Which makes total sense. Thinking about the future in the plural – as different scenarios – will not only boost change readiness but also trigger creativity and innovation. The flavour of forward thinking presented by Anne Bjerre Johansen, Elise Sydendal, Viktoria Windfeld Hinge from #DenGrønneUngdomsbevægelse (the Green Student Movement) was refreshingly radical. Their vision for ‘the workplace of the future’ was next generation in every sense of the word. Redefining what a sustainable company looks like, what value creation really means – and leaving us with the question: Is your company inventing needs or meeting them? When it comes to ‘forward doing’, Louise Koch from #Grundfos and Lene Bjørn Serpa from #Maersk generously opened their toolbox, showing us what they’d done to anchor sustainability in the organisations. How to organise and how to get people outside sustainability engaged is absolutely critical to turn talk into action. But that's not to say we shouldn't talk. Christina Blak nailed this important point in her presentation on how critical communication is as an enabler when it comes to turning ESG commitments into action and effecting real change: "Data documents. Communication motivates." (my translation). To the entire #GlobalCompactDenmark team, thanks for a great day! #FremtidensESG #GlobalCompactDenmark Steffen Max Høgh Sara Krüger Falk Jacob Barnes Jens Steen Larsen Adam Kaveney Bert Preece

Driving Social Impact as Founder | Executive | Entrepreneur | Board Member | Advisor | Speaker | Digital Female Leader | Responsible Leader
Picture this: a room filled with (mainly white and male) business leaders, policy makers and other stakeholders. You are, as often, the only woman on the panel, grappling with a sense of responsibility of representing a broader, more societal perspective. The panel you’re speaking on aims to discuss "Breakthrough technologies for the future”. It is part of an international business conference with the ambition to help ensure that the benefits of globalization are harnessed by everyone. And you start wondering, not for the first time: how can we discuss this crucial topic with a panel and audience as uniform as these? Sounds familiar? This is a situation I found myself in five years ago. But let me rewind a bit: Prior to that event, I had spent years trying to bridge the gap between research, policymaking, business, and civil society. My mission was to foster collaboration across sectors to address our greatest societal challenges. From working with the European Commission and the G20 to advising a range of organizations, I had one key focus: breaking down silos and championing sustainable, inclusive and systemic approaches. Being on that panel challenged me. As my co-speakers presented their work, I grew increasingly frustrated: most of the proudly presented technologies were “nice to have” tools for the already privileged. None of them addressed the urgent challenges our societies and planet face. None of them contributed to addressing our social tipping points. In short: none of them helped pave a path towards a better future. So, I decided to go off script. I tossed aside my previously prepared speaking points and, instead, turned the conversation towards the UN SDGs. The SDGs help us understand the interconnectedness of our societal challenges. You can look at them as a compass for a sustainable future. And I asked the audience: instead of celebrating the creation of tech as a desirable end in itself, shouldn’t our primary focus be on leveraging innovation and tech to help us achieve these goals and build better futures for all? I passionately advocated for developing a collective vision of the society we want to live in and leave for future generations, one that aligns with a roadmap for responsible innovation and tech to help us build it. The ensuing discussion was inspiring, fueling a new sense of purpose. Reflecting on this experience on my way home, I suddenly knew this was my mission: to ensure that innovation and technology are harnessed responsibly, sustainably and equitably to build better futures for us all. That we bring values back in the discussion. That we support change makers who already work to build these futures. And that we make sure that diverse voices - including women - have a voice at the table. This is what I spent the last five years on, as advisor, with TFP - THE FUTURES PROJECT, and currently with The Data Tank. It is a long-term commitment. And I’m only just getting started. Stay tuned.
