#Black #women are the #fastest-#growing #group of #entrepreneurs in the U.S.🇺🇸 Black women make up less than 10% of the U.S. population, but they’ve emerged as the fastest-growing group of entrepreneurs, new #research from GoDaddy has found. Between 2017 and 2020, the number of #Black #women-#owned #businesses #increased by nearly 20%, far exceeding the growth of women-owned businesses and Black-owned businesses overall, The Brookings Institution reports. “To me, the rise of Black women entrepreneurs means we’re starting to believe in ourselves more, that we’re finally recognizing how limitless we are,” says Joy Ofodu, who quit her job at Instagram to become a full-time content creator and voice actor in 2022. Black women and girls represented less than 4% of leads or co-leads in the 100 top-grossing films of the last decade, according to a 2021 report from the University of Southern California’s Viterbi School of Engineering and the Geena Davis Institute on Gender in Media. “Ultimately, when it comes to being a Black woman entrepreneur, I don’t want what I am doing to be so rare, it doesn’t energize me to be the first or only Black woman to do something,” says Ofodu. “I want to fling open the doors for many, many others to join me.” Thanks Robert F. Smith for sharing and amplifying👍🏾 #Entrepreneurship #BlackWomenEntrepreneurs #Innovation #Empowerment Esosa Aihie
Black women are making waves as a fast-growing group of #entrepreneurs in the U.S. — a testament to their determination and resilience. Despite making up less than 10% of the population, Black women are driving growth in entrepreneurship. The number of businesses owned by Black women increased by nearly 20% between 2017 and 2020. This trend is helping to close both the #gendergap and the #racialgap in entrepreneurship. Supporting the growth of Black-women-owned businesses can also help in our efforts to close the #racialwealthgap. While there is still much work to do, it is crucial for us to celebrate and support these trailblazing women who are pursuing entrepreneurship in search of freedom, fulfillment and flexibility in their careers. As someone passionate about entrepreneurship, I applaud these women for their bravery and innovation. Their success not only strengthens our economy but also inspires future generations of entrepreneurs. Let's continue to support and empower all entrepreneurs, especially those who lack opportunities, to achieve their dreams. Robert F. Smith makes the good observation that many of the newest #ETAs are black women. But they need access to capital, access to talented and experienced professional advisors, and support beyond their friends and family. Goodrow Law, PLLC and Yvette Owo and Tamika Tyson and Chandel Strickland are providing targeted services for the marketing of black women entrepreneurs. #blackownedbusiness #ETA #entrepreneurs #goodrowlaw
