Naadiya and the whole team at WomHub thank you for hosting us at your Cape Town innovation lab. I was heavily inspired by the incredible work that you and your team are doing to support women entrepreneurs in STEM. The junior engineering lab was mind blowing. Thank you IFC - International Finance Corporation for this wonderful opportunity. We as bankers can do more to catalyze women centric financial solutions.

Tomorrow 8th March marks International Women’s Day. One of the highlights of this week’s events in commmeration at Standard Chartered was the graduation ceremony for the 2025 cohort of the Women in Tech programme. Standard Chartered Bank works in collaboration with WomHub, an incubator and accelerator supporting women in Science, Technology, Engineering & Manufacturing. Women in Tech also aligns with the bank’s Futuremakers programme. The graduation ceremony was an opportunity for final presentations, judging and prize giving for the founders of a diverse range of tech enterprises, including: - Drone technology that responds to climate change emergencies - Mobile technology to assist people in rural areas to demonstrate proof of address - Digital technology used to make scans to manufacture prosthetic limbs for people in underprivileged communities Congratulations and best wishes to all the Women in Technology who truly inspired us this week.

On this #WorldEngineeringDay I reflect on my own graduation 19 years ago becoming an engineer. I got into engineering by accident & found that I loved the how civil engineering solved problems for people. It also set me down a path to start WomEng to attract, develop and retain more women in engineering. “You can’t be what you can’t see” and it’s been our mission to get more girls to see engineers and now women entrepreneurs in engineering. We have created WomHub to move from just attracting women into engineering to building incubators and accelerators to build engineering businesses. We have impacted over 150 000 women and girls and over 400 female owned businesses. This is a deeply personal mission and part of the commitment with UNESCO to empower 1 million girls through STEM. And why this passion, this mission, this vision you ask? Engineering creates the world around us and we need more diversity at the design table to create an inclusive world. So here is to us engineers who have made the world a cooler place, engineered societies and built economies and continue to do so on a daily basis! Happy World Engineering Day

Empowering Women in Engineering: Beyond Becoming Engineers, It’s Time for More Women-Owned Engineering Companies This World Engineering Day, we celebrate the progress made in building female engineering talent—and the next step: supporting more women-led engineering businesses. From clean energy to smart cities, women engineers are breaking barriers and driving innovation. But challenges remain—funding, representation, and systemic bias. At WomHub, we’re not just building engineers, we’re building engineering founders. Let’s take action. When women win, we all win! #ThrowbackThursday to when Michelle phodiso Moswane, founder of Mishies Company, won our #STEMisEverywhere pitch competition! 🎉🚀 Established in 2020, Mishies Company began with a bakery and catering services, but Michell’s innovative spirit led her to expand into biomass energy production, generating clean energy from food waste. 🌍🔥 Through anaerobic digesters, she is helping provide both food security and renewable energy to underserved communities. Through the STEM is Everywhere programme, supported by Visa Foundation, Michell learned how to refine and grow her business, equipping herself with the tools needed to make a lasting impact. Let’s celebrate Michell and the incredible work she’s doing to drive sustainability and create change! 👏 #SustainableInnovation #STEMisEverywhere #Entrepreneurship #WomenInSTEM #CommunityImpact #WomHub #VisaFoundation #Connect #Convert #Cultivate #IgniteTheEcosystem
