Woodward Financial Advisors has had the absolute pleasure of spending the summer with not one — but TWO of University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill UNC Kenan-Flagler Business School ✨best✨ student interns! 🩵 🐏 Owen Bratten and Will Ullman have spent weeks working on dozens of projects, shadowing our financial planners, and showing up as their best selves each and every day! It’s hard to imagine the office without them after today — but we can’t wait to hear about all the amazing things they accomplish as they finish up their degree! Thank you for making us better, Owen and Will!

The kids are alright....but we need to support them! For the past three summers I've had the pleasure of discussing financial literacy and financial futures with Greenwood Project interns. The thoughts of this summer's interns, Anthony Armstead, Arelys Estrada, Adin Farmer, Imani Noel, Kai Washington, and Manny Wiley are insightful and important for all of us to consider. #InvestingInvolvesRisk

I'll be honest, I don't know if this is typical or not - my gut says no - but this is clearly a company that truly believes each of those people is part of the San Francisco 49ers team. They don't play on the field, but this shows these individuals that you believe their work helped the team accomplish its goals. And while I could be wrong, something tells me they do more things like this that we don't hear about. #teamwork #leadership #teamdevelopment #culture

This is a great example of inclusive organizational #leadership! While it’s not always possible to fly every FTE to every event, I applaud the 49ers for setting an example here — especially in the era of hyper-segmentation and favoritism amongst teams. Finding a way to acknowledge the contribution of all employees, whenever possible, goes a long way toward reducing silos, decreasing intra-office resentment, creating healthy workplace culture, and motivating folks to do their best work. #Superbowl #inclusion #culture #belonging

Real Estate Investments at Fortune 90 Company | Chair - CRE Advisory Board, Marquette CRE | NAIOP Research Foundation Governor & Visionary | Empowering Others | Demonstrating Exceptional Leadership
Growing up in a small town, my vision of success mirrored my dad's dedication to commercial real estate. One-year goals? Learn by his side as we rode together viewing properties. Five years? Maybe get a job at a local firm, helping local businesses flourish. Ten years? Building a career as strong and respected as his. Marquette University’s real estate program opened my eyes to a whole new world. Suddenly, those one-year plans were about devouring every course and landing a prestigious internship. Law school seemed like the natural progression after the great financial crisis disrupted the traditional commercial real estate path, I dreamed of becoming a partner at a top firm. Fast forward to my first job at a regional firm. The work was intense, the hours… well, let's just say small-town life hadn't prepared me for the big-city grind. Those one-year plans kept me laser-focused, climbing the corporate ladder rung by rung. But then, life, the master of surprises, threw me a beautiful curveball. Met an amazing woman through friends. Suddenly, the five-year plan needed a serious revision. The prestigious-firm dream seemed a little lonely compared to the future we were already envisioning. The detours kept coming, each one a beautiful lesson in how plans and perspectives can evolve. Our first child. Building a life together. Realizing that success wasn't just about titles and corner offices. It was about having the flexibility to coach T-ball practice, the freedom to be present for those school plays. Looking back, my dad's work ethic and the Marquette University Vieth Institute for Real Estate Leadership program laid the groundwork. But the most valuable lessons haven't come from textbooks or client meetings. They've come from the unexpected turns, the moments that defied any plan. An incredible wife, four amazing kids, a career that allows me to be there for them – these are the things that make life truly rich. Here's to the evolution of plans, the unexpected detours that shape our perspectives, and the beautiful surprises that lead us exactly where we're meant to be. Because sometimes, the greatest gifts are the ones we never saw coming. #MarquetteLaw #EvolvingPerspectives #Grateful
