An armed with exhibition platoon commander can be armed with a rifle, which gives the commander the ability to blend in really well with the team at times (or all the time) and pull back to a commander position when needed. In contrast, a commander armed with a saber (spelled like this in English, when a sabre is associated associated with dance, it's spelled like that) cannot easily blend with the team, especially since spinning a real saber is somewhat dangerous (which is why a marching band color guard sabre needs to be authorized starting yesterday - much safer). What about touching the blade? Is it frowned upon? By some judges, probably. Why? Because they bring their bias with them onto the drill area and don't fully appreciate Scholastic Exhibition Drill. Some judges cannot get past anything outside of the service drill teams. That class of exhibition drill is Ceremonial Exhibition Drill. Both classes are exhibition drill, both have many of the qualities that the public would expect, but the difference is where the teams originate. The service drill teams could never perform some of the moves scholastic teams perform because the style could possibly bring discredit on the unit. Armed with a saber? Touch the blade! Be creative. Notice the center pole is taller. That means when all flags are at full truck (the flat piece just below the finial), they are correctly displayed. Now, for half-mast (using "mast" here because of the USN flag), the two outside/outboard flags should be lower, not at the same level, as the national. This is because the center of the hoist of the flags should be flown at the center of the mast and both outside masts are shorter. Having said that, there is a possibility that the roof next to the masts is too close and would interfere with the flags and that is why they are lowered only a few feet from the finial. Still, the outside flags should be slightly lower. 👉MCO 5060.20 states that a flag lower than full truck is considered to be at half-mast. 🔆Education is 🔑! . 🔹Read your manuals! The BERETTA M9A3 series is a modern iteration of the iconic Beretta M9, which has been a standard sidearm for the U.S. military for decades. In response to military feedback, Beretta has developed the latest addition to the M9 family, the M9A3 9mm pistol. The M9A3 incorporates all the essential features modern combat professionals need for demanding environments delivering superior reliability and versatility. The M9A3 introduces several enhancements, including design and material, resulting in increased modularity, reliability, durability, and ergonomics. For example, the sand-resistant magazines ensure reliable performance even in harsh, sandy environments. The gun's high-visibility, three-dot sight system is also a valuable feature, as it provides better accuracy in low-light conditions. An integral 3-slot Picatinny rail under the barrel enables the attachment of lights, lasers, and other accessories. Also, the Beretta M9A3 slide can be converted from “FS” to “G” mode, changing the safety/de-cocker into a de-cocker-only operation. We have standards in the military tthat we are supposed to follow because many of those standards are directly related to saving lives. We are supposed to have enough integrity to follow published standards and not pick and choose which ones to follow and which ones are OK to ignore. Standards don't work like that. If we can't follow seemingly innocuous standards like those for color guard in MCO 5060.20 and NTP 13B, what happens when we come across something that affects people or costs millions of dollars? Those standards? We follow those... I would hope that @uscoastguardbootcamp would get with the program and better equip and properly train their color guard. ❌Light ash wood guidon staffs are required. ❌Gold-colored ferrules and screw joint are required. ❌The battle-ax, at a minimum, is the required finial. ❌Mirror Present is not authorized outside of the Ceremonial Honor Guard. ❌Fringe is forbidden on the national color. ❌Guards flare the right hand at the small of the stock and wrap the left. ❌Color guards form and march at Close Interval only. • • • • • 🔆Education is 🔑! . 🔹Read your manuals! The Intended Direction of Display. I coined that term years ago because I needed a, way to help others understand which way a set of flagpoles should be used as far as which flag is hoisted on which pole. This display, even though the pole on the left doesn't have a flag flying from it, is wrong. How do we know this? From the sign that says "Department of Veterans Affairs". The direction it faces dictates to which the American flag is attached. So, even though the American flag is the only one, it must always be on the (viewer's) left flagpole because of the sign. The POW should be smaller to cause less stress on the pole, halyard, and hardware. The POW can be flown from the pole on the right (should be similar in size to the US) or below the US on the same halyard (smaller). If flown below the US, the other pole could have the FL state flag displayed. These are double halyard poles (a bit much), so the US, POW, FL, county, city, and even VA flags could be displayed. The county and city flags could be on the same halyard as well as the US and POW. Thanks to my friends, 1SG Anthony Garris and his wife Christine, for sending this in! 🔆Education is 🔑! . 🔹Read your manuals! Download them free at the Resources page here: www.thedrillmaster.org . Speaking of #MakeFlagFoldingGreatAgain, the #FlagTilt is required when there is a REASON that the flag cannot be popped to horizontal. A wall, flowers, overhang, or something that is in the way is that reason. Tilting the flag is NOT part of the flag fold. The Flag Code, TC 3-21.5, MCO 5060.20, and AFI 34-1201 all explain the process. These two have ZERO REASON to tilt the flag and no one should be standing and saluting. This is just Marines trying to be #ceremonialer because the deceased was such a great guy that he deserves more and "better". Each vet deserves what is authorized without the constant "Bigger! Better! More!" thought process. Just follow the standards and everything will be just fine. 🔆Education is 🔑! . 🔹Read your manuals! We recently joined Charles Darwin University for their Capability Tour during NT Defence Week 2024. Visitors, including representatives from the Australian Defence Force, Defence NT, and the Defence industry, had the opportunity to engage our CTO, Steven Camilleri, and Material Scientist Dr. Tien Tran, as well as CDU AMA Director Prof. Krishnan Kannoorpatti. Together, we showcased our LightSPEE3D and discussed the benefits of industry-research partnerships in Defence manufacturing. #NTDefenceWeek #AdvancedManufacturing #ColdSpray #AdditiveManufacturing #AdvancedManufacturing #Manufacturing #3DMetalPrinting #AM #Logistics #SupplyChain

There's been a change to flag protocol! Just kidding. ❌The American flag is NEVER carried to the left of ANY color. It is ALWAYS carried on the right in line formation and in front in column formation of all other colors. All the time. No exceptions. ⭐⭐I do very much appreciate these JROTC cadets working together. However, ❌Colors harness sockets MUST be aligned to as close as possible to the same level. If that's not possible, the US bearer's socket CANNOT be lower than another. ❌The team must march at Close Interval. ⭐Only the Army has both guards at Right Shoulder. Everyone else has them at the outside/outboard shoulder. ❌MCJROTC color bearers your sockets are so low, they have scrape marks from the floor. #HarnessSocketCrotchSyndrome is not a good look. ❌Everyone is supposed to have secondary chin straps down. ❌Left guard, close all your fingers. ⭐Free arms at the sides. Don't pin your hand to your thigh. Your hand does not move with the thigh, it stays put. You can see the US color bearer's hand traveling up with his thigh while the team marches in place. ⭐Correct equipment. ❌#TuckYourGloves 🔆Education is 🔑! . 🔹Read your manuals!
