With what seems like serendipitous timing, HBR just released a great article about re-skilling employees and the best way to approach it. Here are my main takeaways: 🌟 Embrace the Future with AI and Automation 🌟 Technology, like AI and automation, is changing how we work. We all need new skills to stay ahead of the game. 📚 Don’t worry, learning these skills can be an exciting journey! The key is to see it as a continuous adventure, not a one-time event. And a positive attitude can make all the difference. 🤝 Companies, and especially middle and senior managers, have a big role to play. By treating employees as partners and being transparent about the need for new skills, they can help everyone get on board. Make it easy for employees to learn by removing barriers and giving them time. 🌍 It takes a village to reskill! Companies should work together with other organizations, charities, and schools to help everyone learn. Together, we can make the most of the new opportunities AI and automation bring. 🚀 And it’s not just about starting new training programs. We need to measure how well they work and learn from what we find. By doing this, we can make sure that everyone is prepared for the new world of work. #futureofwork #AI #automation #skills #learning #partnership #innovation https://lnkd.in/eK49TTU4 age-of-ai

An interesting summary from Ed Wander describing some of the strategic and solution led approaches companies are taking to L&D. #learninganddevelopment #Corndel
The role of L&D teams in organisations is changing and I can see 2024 being a big year for accelerating the impact of learning. At Corndel we work with over 350 leading UK businesses and third sector organisations, giving our teams a behind the scenes view of how L&D is having to adapt to the changing needs of modern business. There is a clear transition happening, with L&D teams becoming more strategic in their approach to develop the skills that employees and businesses need now and in the future, with a focus on developing a culture of learning and innovation. Some of the main ways we are seeing this change happen include: >> L&D teams are looking to build upskill and reskill strategies that integrate new tools and technologies, building employees’ knowledge and capabilities around how to work with AI in their roles. >> L&D teams are starting to introduce initiatives and coaching-centred programmes that put personalised training and a human-centred approach at the forefront. >> L&D teams are starting to understand the business value that can be derived from developing organisation-wide data literacy and critical thinking skills. >> The employee offer is starting to be prioritised, with HR and L&D developing programmes and environments that attract, train and retain young talent. Are your Exec, HR and L&D teams adapting their approach and introducing new strategies in response to changing skills needs? I foresee 2024 being an exciting and transformational year for skills and peaople strategy. A great article from Forbes makes the point around AI skills for all roles, and the importance of developing a learning culture… it’s worth a read if you have 5 mins! #learninganddevelopment #skills #reskill #upskill #dataliteracy #AI #talent

Incidents are often seen as disruptions, but they offer valuable learning opportunities for organizations. Nora Jones' article, “Learning from Major Incidents: The Opportunities We’re Missing,” explores how to leverage incidents for growth and resilience. Key Insights 🔍 1️⃣ Focus on Learning: While stabilizing is crucial, the real value comes from learning and sharing insights to drive growth. 2️⃣ Develop More Experts: Use AI to teach more individuals, not just to replace experts. Understand their “why” and “how” to build a broader knowledge base. 3️⃣ Conduct Effective Reviews: Separate public and internal reviews to maintain customer confidence and focus on improvements. Involve outsiders for a fresh perspective. 4️⃣ Bridge the Divide: Collect insights from both executives and technical teams to provide actionable recommendations. 5️⃣ Invest in Development: Incidents are inevitable; focus on employee training and growth rather than relying solely on AI. Transform crises into growth opportunities by investing in your team not only to retain talent but also to enhance your organization’s resilience and innovation. 📚 Read the full article here: https://lnkd.in/d-hq4eWJ #IncidentManagement #GenAI #TechLeadership

🚀 Unlocking Growth with Generative AI: A CEO's Perspective 🚀 PwC's recent report on Gen AI Tools for growth underscores the pivotal role of generative AI in reshaping industries. While some CEOs are eyeing increased efficiency and a leaner workforce, it's crucial to recognize the broader potential of this transformative technology. The statistics are revealing: 1 in 4 executives surveyed plan to reduce headcount by 5% or more in 2024 due to generative AI. However, this approach risks winning the cost battle while losing the growth war. Sacrificing innovation for short-term gains is a dangerous trade-off. In contrast, technology CEOs are taking a different approach. They understand the disruptive potential of generative AI and see it as a catalyst for value creation. Nearly a quarter of them plan to grow their workforce to capitalize on this technology, signaling a commitment to innovation and new ways of creating value. So, what can CEOs in other industries learn from their tech counterparts? 1. Upskill Everyone: Implement comprehensive training and development programs to empower every member of the organization, from the C-suite to frontline workers, to leverage AI effectively. By upskilling the entire workforce, companies can avoid creating siloed pockets of capability and raise the baseline expectation for everyone. 2. Refocus Worker Roles on Innovation: Emphasize the importance of innovation, ideas, and creativity in every role. Gen AI isn't about replacing workers but empowering them to use technology creatively. Encourage constant innovation and iteration, even among those who may not have had creative agency in the past. 3. Build the Right IT Function: Reshape the IT function to be a first mover within the enterprise. Introduce new roles like prompt engineers and rapidly implement IT-specific use cases for generative AI. Focus on addressing priorities such as productivity, profitability, and new product development. Generative AI offers immense potential beyond efficiency gains. By prioritizing growth and innovation, companies can derive maximum value from this technology and position themselves for long-term success in an ever-evolving business landscape. #GenerativeAI #Innovation #Technology #Leadership #Upskilling #FutureOfWork #PwCInsights
