We’ve lived and worked in Kansas City’s Black communities, and we know the strength and ingenuity we all bring to the table every day. But we also know the challenges—systemic barriers that make it harder for us to succeed and build the futures we deserve.
The numbers tell a powerful story: If our Black-owned businesses received the support they deserve, we could create 7 million new jobs and inject $733 billion into our economy. This isn’t just about statistics—this is about transforming our neighborhoods. More jobs mean more opportunities for our families, safer streets, and stronger communities where everyone can thrive.
When we support Black businesses, we’re investing in our own future. We’re breaking the cycle of poverty, reducing crime, and creating a foundation for future generations.
Kansas City, this is our call to action. We have the power to make a difference. Let’s learn more, stand together, and create lasting change. Let’s build a future where our success is celebrated, and our communities thrive. Together, we can—and will—make a difference.
