systems thinking PLUS: Epistemic rewilding + Sensual reawakening + Decoloniality and post activism + trauma-informed = Systemic consciousness and Awareness = meeting our troubled times with poise and grace
Insightful. PH Jones reviews the global problematique and argues to combine design and systems thinking. I strongly suggest that MUCH MORE epistemic rewilding is required. Consciousness Donna Haraway; hospicing modernity Vanessa Machado de Oliviera; post activism and far reaching eclectic perspectives Bayo Akomolafe; decoloniality Fanon; indigenous and perennial wisdom traditions - too numerous; trauma informed thinking (collective, ancestral grief) Grof, Weller, Hubl; regeneration Wahl; futures thinking...at a minimum. It is also fundamental to affirm that we cannot ever fully know and determine what unfolds, but nevertheless in our unknowing knowing and interbeing, meld and influence the unfolding.

Author: Building Inclusion, A Practical Guide to EDI in Architecture & Built Environment, pub Routledge *ORDER NOW!* | Global Award-winning strategist in org inclusion using CQ | Compassionate & honest agent of change
I have a favour to ask: I know a few people who follow me are also RIBA members or work with RIBA members in #Architecture and the Built Environment... The Just Transition Lobby have a candidate they'd like to put forward to be the next #President of the institute. If you're a member, and interested in supporting this candidate that will certainly #represent continued transformation, then please fill in this form. I understand the name isn't being put forward at the moment because it's actually against RIBA rules to canvas for support for a nomination, it's only after achieving a nomination that candidates can lobby for votes. What I can say is, consistent with their current approach, this person would be an architectural worker and doesn't lead a practice, but has all the attributes for a leader of #change. Please share with relevant colleagues. https://lnkd.in/eq8XXW28

It's not every day (week, month, year) that a major Planning Scheme Amendment gets adopted by your Council. On Monday 18 March 2024, Council adopted Heritage Amendment C148maro to the Maroondah Planning Scheme resolving to protect 35 post-World War II heritage buildings/assets. It took 7 years of effort to reach this point. Heritage is never an easy dynamic to navigate as inevitably there are differing views in the community. Council in this case has struck the right balance between including and disregarding nominations. The independent panel that reviewed submissions in late 2023 recognised Council’s continued commitment to protecting local heritage places. The Panel was of the view that the recent heritage review of post war heritage was appropriate noting that this period since 1945 represents a lengthy and significant era of development and change in the Municipality. The National Trust was also on side. Council went over and above in consulting affected parties prior to the formal amendment exhibition period. The process involved significant review and filtering to ensure only those properties with the highest heritage values were retained. A big shout out to Council's Senior Strategic Planner, Cristina Rivero, for her unwavering professionalism and dedication to what was a mammoth task. The Amendment has been submitted to the Minister for Planning for final approval. Pictured: Fibremakers Ltd, Bayswater North, 1970, one of the properties included within the Amendment for heritage protection.
