The Illinois Film Production Tax Credit Incentive, now in its 20th year, has become a model for new revenue and job creation with extended benefits for our state's vendors, tourism, hotels, and restaurants. As I wrote in my Chicago Tribune op-ed, for two decades, the tax credit has been a key factor in Illinois landing major productions. The incentive, championed and extended through 2033 by Gov. JB Pritzker, offers tax credits for local labor and production expenditures. The Illinois Film Production Tax Credit has resulted in a $6.81 return on investment for every dollar spent on the incentive -- $3.6 billion in economic activity between FY17 and FY22. 94 percent of Illinois’ current film industry economic impact is attributed to the impact of the tax credit. Add to that the extended benefits of activity like visits to restaurants featured in movies, television and series such as "The Bear". Since Season 3 started streaming, Chicago restaurant locations have benefitted from higher traffic and business. That's a sales tax boost to the City. #filmproductiontaxincentive #filmproduction #BeinIllinois https://lnkd.in/gRv3ZExT

FLAVOURED CRUMPETS. Why is no one doing this??? Well my friend Kat is, and let me tell you, they are bloody fantastic. Sundried tomato and feta crumpets. Stem ginger crumpets. Chocolate orange crumpets. PUMPKIN SPICE CRUMPETS. (And so many more...) Katrina Ajomale, the genius behind Crumpetorium, just did a pop-up at my restaurant. (See photos… 🤤) She already supplies all the best places in Norfolk/Suffolk, has a solid D2C following, has received excellent press, and was aaaaalmost on Aldi UK’s Next Big Thing. (Let’s be real, if it’d been Waitrose & Partners’s Next Big Thing she’d be a shoe-in.) But, like many small F&B start-ups, she is struggling to scale. So… calling all F&B whizzes: Who knows of any great accelerator opportunities? Mentorship schemes? Growth hacking programmes? Kind souls with bakery scaling experience who have some words of wisdom? Would love to help the hardest working most creative baker in the East grow her business the way she could... (Please note: spenny consultants aren’t an option right now.) And if you can’t help in any way, I invite you simply to enjoy this food p*rn. Tasted even better than it looks. 👀 #fandb #scaling #growthhacking #bakery #crumpets #mentorship #opportunities #innovation 📸 by the sensational Nathan Neeve (who doesn't really use LinkedIn but should).

You can use your restaurant week to promote your local restaurants. All good. Or you can use it to build up your local food ecosystem, which transforms your place into a destination, your local restaurateurs into entrepreneurs and your local business owners into contributors to the local food cluster. Surge of attention and sales for a week, or long term boost to your local economy. Choose wisely.
