This is worrying! Although we have started to become aware of the many ways the Curriculum lacks the breadth and depth it requires. More needs to be down to create equality and diversity in all curriculum areas. As a History and English teacher, I make it my responsibility to create a inclusive and diverse syllabus for my learners. However, this can be very difficult especially in FE colleges when learners are not exposed to or studying either of these subjects. We must start to champion all members of our society and take pride in all they have achieved. It all starts in the classroom. #FE #EDI #Decolonisethecurriculum

Are you a Black civil servant at Grade 6/7 equivalent or SCS? Are you a Black former civil servant who left at Grade 6/7 equivalent or SCS? If this is you, you are invited to participate in a study by Cardiff University. The research is a response to Navigating the Labyrinth: Socio-economic background and career progression within the Civil Service Report We would like to hear your lived experience in a one-to-one conversation of approximately 45-60 minutes via a virtual Teams meeting at a time convenient to you. We seek to understand how Black civil servants respond to the cultural challenges (organisational; inter-subgroup, intra-subgroup cultures) that they face in pursuit of promotion into the senior civil service and progression to departmental management boards. Do individual outcomes vary depending on ethnic heritage? An in-person interview may be possible. Interviews will be audio recorded and kept anonymous. All data collected will be handled confidentially. This research project has been reviewed by the Cardiff University Ethics Committee. This is a great step forward towards #inclusion. Now in schoolrooms and eventually in boardrooms. With #Ontario mandating Black History Learning in schools' curriculum, let's hope that all provinces will follow. The history of Black people in Canada is integral to Canadian history. Including the history of all peoples in the teaching of Canadian history, builds an understanding and appreciation of the diverse races and cultures, gives visible minorities pride and confidence in who they are and reinforces the collective identity of all of us as Canadians. #diversityandinclusion #leadership
