In the video I say; “Workplaces shouldn’t be afraid - sometimes they feel if I give you too much flexibility, you’re not going to want to come back in “full”. But if you want retention, a happy and engaged workforce then well-being should be at the forefront of everything. And if you don’t do that, expect half of your returners to leave. Reflecting on the Past 9 Months in Home Care: Our Journey So Far! The last nine months have been an incredible journey at Astar Care Solutions, and I couldn’t be prouder of what we’ve accomplished. At the heart of our approach is cultural sensitivity—understanding the unique needs of each person we serve. Every assessment we carry out is done with care, respect, and a deep appreciation for the diverse backgrounds of our service users. We’ve been working closely with our local community, holding sessions in mosques, temples, and various community forums to listen, learn, and identify what truly matters to those we serve. These conversations have been invaluable in shaping our services to ensure we’re meeting the needs of everyone, regardless of their background. Did you know that 200,000 people are living with sight loss in London and just under 700,000 (1 in every 12 adults) are living with a sight threatening condition? That’s why we are working with Fight for Sight / Vision Foundation, to help them support their vision of a future where people living with sight loss are equal citizens and preventable blindness is a thing of the past. We awarded a grant to the organisation to deliver an online event for blind and partially sighted people between 16 and 25, highlighting the importance of maintaining mental fitness. The event served as a prequel to a set of four in-person activity days organised in partnership with Jamie’s Farm. Each activity day offered 10 young people the chance to spend a day outdoors in nature, working with animals and participating in challenges and activities that allowed them to explore themselves and their well-being journeys. “It was great to be given tasks that you don’t normally do and be given the opportunity to complete them independently. I particularly enjoyed interacting with the animals and chopping firewood.” – Sam, Event Participant IICF recognises that the UK has one of the poorest rates of social mobility in the developed world. We’re working to change this by uniting the industry in volunteering, leadership and grants to social mobility charities. In the UK we’ve raised nearly £2M to change the lives of more than 7,500 people in the communities in which we live and work. Last week saw our bi-annual staff meeting, which is one of the few chances the entire team get-together in the whole year 😊 We provide such a specialist service here at Branches, that our staff all work on different days, times, and shift patterns every day of the week. No more sleeps! #LonelinessAwarenessWeek starts today. The amazing charity Marmalade Trust launched this awareness week in 2017 and it has grown in momentum each year. This year the theme is ‘Random Acts of Connection’ encouraging everyone to increase those simple, everyday moments of connection which helps us and those around us feel happier and less lonely. Everyone can join in, it need not cost you a penny. It can be as simple as a chat in a queue, smiling at a neighbour, or signing up to a new activity or event.
