I think this is a quite compelling news! If you have been meeting me you might know how I think about this: Problem: CSP have been commoditizing services (bare transport) while OTT get the majority share of the business. Short-term palliative (ongoing): cost efficiencies (job cuts, low spendings to make networks sweat like hell, sell assets, etc); market consolidation & vertical integration (cable companies offering broadband, OTT bundles, etc). Long term alternative: find efficient and attractive ways to monetize network investments, making them programable and sharing APIs selling OTT the service level they need in order to make their apps work as they should. This should generate a balance in the revenue chain of the e2e service. I think that today's news goes in that direction where Nokia who masters network QoS partners with a market leading company who masters communication API services. This partnership would allow us offer CSP the right solution in their jurney towards network monetization and long-term survival.
With Nokia and Infobip joining forces, we're unlocking a world of possibilities. Now, developers can harness the power of telco networks like never before, creating a diverse range of applications at lightning speed. ⚡📱 Stay tuned for more updates and get ready to unleash your creativity! 🚀🌟 https://nokia.ly/3ybTAHG

In 2016, Nokia CEO ended his speech saying, "we didn't do anything wrong, but somehow, we lost." It was a sad day at Nokia, and many tears were shed. But why is this relevant today? Steady state does not equal survival. If you're not innovative and keeping up with market trends, you will be replaced. Drive the industry, don't let the industry drive you. If you're intuitive enough to lead, be smart enough to keep the lead. It's always harder to play catch up. If you fall behind, it's still possible to claw your way back. Nokia is doing things differently and seems to have positive momentum now with HMD Global. What is your operating strategy for 2024? Don't be like old Nokia, differentiate yourself from the rest. The goal is not to keep up with, but to outpace the competition. Remember, failure does not necessarily mean you did anything wrong, it could be that you did not do enough. Wishing you all the best in the new year. (unless you're my competition!) 😉

It's exciting to see how major events are becoming more than just about the competition, but also about delivering an exceptional customer experience through connectivity! 🌐 Recently, Ericsson delivered a resilient and super-fast 5G network at a major football tournament, ensuring seamless connections for hundreds of thousands of fans. The impact? Strong network infrastructure plays a crucial role in creating memorable moments for fans. In fact, Ericsson's research shows that 5G users are three times more likely to churn after a poor event connection experience. 📊 Their work supported network providers to enable fans to share and connect throughout the tournament. 🔗 https://lnkd.in/gDQ_P7rN #TeamEricsson #MakeItMemorable #FanExperience #ConnectedStadium #5G

For those of us tracking the cutting-edge in telco, 1&1 Telecommunication SE's deployment using Rakuten Symphony platform is an important milestone — it is the first significant deployment outside of Rakuten Mobile using the learnings and platform they developed in the Japanese market. 1&1's CEO, Michael Martin, was kind enough to join a public forum at #MWC24, alongside Rabih, CBO of Rakuten Symphony and answer questions both from me and the audience. The unique architecture and foundation they've laid holds promise for new services and modern operations. Like the other pioneers driving open and cloud-based telco platforms, there's been lessons learned in that journey. But building on a next-gen platform is a necessary step towards a becoming a modern communications and digital services provider. Watch the interview below when you get a chance — I really appreciate both Rabih and Mike's willingness to have an open conversation around the experience and opportunities.
1&1 Mobilfunk CEO Michael Martin, Rakuten Symphony CBO Rabih Dabboussi(ラビー・ダブーシ)and AvidThink’s Roy Chua came together at #MWC24 to discuss the historic launch, and exciting future of Europe's first Open RAN mobile network. Learn how 1&1 Telecommunication SE's unique network architecture - designed, deployed and operated by Rakuten Symphony - is enabling better performance and openness, creating new possibilities for 1&1's 12 million mobile customers, and what is next for 1&1 in Germany. #RakutenSymphony #1und1 #Mobilfunk #telecom #leaders

I just got off the stage at GSMA Mobile World Congress in Las Vegas where I spoke about T-Mobile's journey from challenger to champion. 10 years ago, we had a 3G network when everyone else had moved to 4G. We saw the 5G wave coming and rode it to become the most awarded 5G network in the world. We swept the latest reports from Ookla and Opensignal to be crowned the leader in overall network performance, the most consistent network, and the world's most available 5G network. Our technology leadership empowers us to develop solutions with organizations of all sizes. From sports and entertainment to transportation to health care to retail, we are innovating with our customers to help them solve their toughest problems. A few weeks ago, we announced T-Priority, the world's first network slice for first responders. Today, we announced 5G On Demand, a rapidly deployable, portable 5G network. In as little as 48 hours, enterprises can achieve fiber-like speeds at a lower cost than custom-built private networks. And WE WON'T STOP building on our lead and staying true to our mission of being the best in the world at connecting customers to their world.
