The world we live in today feels heavy. Division, fear, and selfishness seem to dominate our headlines and seep into our communities. It’s easy to feel hopeless, like the future is out of our control. But I refuse to believe that’s the story we’re stuck with. I believe in the power of hope. I believe in the power of our youth to lead us to something brighter, and I believe we can guide them there. That’s why Emerald Creative is returning to its roots as a community-building resource, first and foremost. It’s why I’m so proud to announce the launch of Emerald Academy Online, an educational platform built to empower, inspire, and uplift. This isn’t just about learning—it’s about healing. It’s about teaching the next generation that empathy, integrity, and accountability are the real tools of leadership. It’s about showing them that their voices matter and their actions can build the future we dream of. And because I know that hope should never come with a price tag, Emerald Academy will offer a no-questions-asked scholarship option for anyone who needs it. Education and empowerment should be a right, not a privilege. Together, we can light the way toward something better. For ourselves. For our children. For the world. #EmeraldAcademy #HopeForTheFuture #LeadershipForChange #BuildingCommunity

Just wrapped up day 2 of the Summer Institute for Authentic Learning and Leadership. The theme for this year's conference is to "Make Learning Irrestistble." Below are some of my reflections on this two day gathering of amazing educators. 1. Reflections on Ron Beger; a phenomenal human being. 2. Thoughts about "Beautiful Work" by Ron Berger (https://lnkd.in/dE7hqQTd); doable and attainable. Teachers, we can do this 💪❤️!. 3. Talking with my "beach buddies" was inspirational. Always good to hear other people's perspective. 4. Inspiring thoughts from Dr. Lisa Lande; student voice and choice is important. Also, It is important to lead with purpose and kindness ✨️. 5. A "surprise and delight" from today's session was "Creating the Coolest 😎 Lesson Plans Ever" by Dr. Buddy Berry. 6. Dr. Michelle Pledger made me think more deeply about: "Leading in Love, Living in Liberation." 7. An interesting person I met was: Brianna Agomessou from pastfoundation.org Brianna's session focused on: Innovating Educators with PAST Portable Innovation Labs: Hands on Learning for Tomorrow's Challenges.

Educators and Change Agents: For over thirty years, educational achievement in the U.S. has faced a troubling plateau. Many, if not all initiatives, including NCLB, RTTT, ESSA, have aimed to move the needle, yet the gains remain elusive. Why have these efforts stalled, and what might we be overlooking? Join the Drake Continual Improvement Network meeting on November 12 for an immersive exploration as we revisit the past through a fresh lens—one grounded in continuous improvement, systems thinking, sustainable quality, and the understanding that educational challenges cannot be solved in isolation. Together, we’ll examine why previous approaches have struggled to gain traction and explore how evidence-based insights can guide a more holistic, impactful path forward. This meeting offers an opportunity not just to diagnose, but to envision actionable change that starts at the heart of our educational practices. Be part of a transformative conversation that aims to renew our commitment to meaningful progress. Are you satisfied with the way things are or are you ready to rethink what’s possible?

The #organizationallab, #SCOL - Social Competence Organization and Leadership - organized by Universität Klagenfurt and coordinated by Ruth Lerchster, is taking place today in pouring rain, contrasting with yesterday’s sunshine when we sat in the garden. This weather shift serves as a metaphor for the varied conditions in #organizations, where employees and managers face different “weather” daily. Sometimes it’s sunny☀️, sometimes rainy🌧️ or stormy⛈️, and then the skies clear, reflecting organizational experiences of hurt, joy, tension, insecurity etc. At Stift Ossiach on Lake Ossiach, participants in this unique lab experience this emotional and realistic dynamic, giving them a rare opportunity for immersive, professionally guided #organizationallearning and #selfawareness, comparable to the #matheticallearning approach. This type of personal #social and #emotionallearning should also be integral to the education of children and young people during time of school, ensuring they can form reflective opinions and handle socially stressful situations in future #newwork environments. #mathetics #organizationaldevelopment #groupdynamics
