Contrary to common belief, I do actually work from home, however this tends to be after hours, as seen in last night’s photo. Sporting my favorite lockdown gift T-shirt 😁, I was reviewing CVs for potential new roles at Compton. Interestingly, I’ve seen a noticeable shift in candidates’ attitudes compared to a year ago. Twelve months back, cover letters often expressed a preference for flexible working, requesting 1-3 days per week remote. Notably, today’s applications are silent on the topic, prompting me to ponder whether people now perceive full-time office commitment as better for their careers or if they’ve realised it’s necessary for top roles. Honestly, I’m uncertain about the answer, but one undeniable fact remains: Compton’s success is rooted in the culture cultivated by bringing the team together throughout the working week. This unity has driven not only the team’s advancement but also the growth of individual careers. At Compton we don’t endorse a WFH policy, and we never will.
