I am deeply moved and fully support Princess Dina Mired’s recent speech at the World Cancer Congress, where she shed light on the dire situation of cancer patients in conflict zones, with a poignant focus on Gaza. Her powerful message highlighted the stark contrast in how humanitarian laws are upheld in different conflict zones. In Gaza, cancer patients face unimaginable hardships—lack of access to essential radiotherapy, hospitals reduced to rubble, and the heart-wrenching inability to transfer pediatric cancer patients to safety. This situation is a grave reminder of our collective responsibility to protect and prioritize healthcare as a universal human right, especially in war-torn regions. In a concerning trend, Karnataka is witnessing a rise in the number of cases of early stage cancer. Researchers discovered that the state's cancer incidence rate is an average annual increase of 1% in cancer among men and women. There are still a lot of negative connotations associated with the term cancer. However, raising awareness of this illness is essential.
