Our second distinguished guest, Ann Vaughan on youth contribution: When it comes to tackling challenges in the agricultural space, most of the best ideas are coming from young people. In tackling these challenges, we need to ask ourselves critical questions, including: 1. What is our vision for African farmland going into the future? 2. How can Africa meet the need for healthy diet? ECOWAS leaders must recognize that the region's economic woes are symptoms of deeper structural issues. It's time to move beyond Band-Aid solutions and tackle the root causes of food insecurity, youth unemployment, and climate vulnerability. This requires a commitment to transformative reforms, investing in sustainable agriculture, education, and innovation, and prioritizing the needs of local communities over corporate interests. The future of West Africa depends on its ability to harness and unleash the potential of its youth to build a more resilient and equitable economy. #Ecowas #EcowasSummit #WestAfrica #EconomicTransformation #YouthEmpowerment #SustainableDevelopment https://lnkd.in/eiAaWEGD

I am proud to announce that I levelled up my skills by completing the course "Applying Integrated Policy Approaches to Accelerate the 2030 Agenda" with United Nations Institute for Training and Research (UNITAR)! This program has equipped me with essential tools to deliver SDG policy integration support to governments and help advance the 2030 Agenda. Modules from the course include: 1. Introduction to Policy Integration for the SDGs 2. Assessing SDG Alignment 3. Identifying SDG Accelerators 4. Enabling SDG Coherence and Integration The course also covered key aspects of the UN's response to the COVID-19 pandemic, including: 🦠 UN Development System's Response to the COVID-19 Pandemic 🛡️ UN Socio-Economic Framework (UNDP/ Digital Cooperation Organization (DCO) for mitigating social and economic impacts 🆘 Global Humanitarian Response Plan (GHRP) by United Nations OCHA to address health and humanitarian needs 🏥 Strategic Preparedness and Response Plan (SPRP) by World Health Organization to support public health measures 🌐 UN Country Teams’ strategic efforts for maximum impact and national objectives What is Integrated Policy Support for the SDGs? Integrated policy support approaches are based on systemic, whole-of-society and whole-of-government perspectives of the SDGs. The RIA assessment can be a first step in defining a roadmap for a country to implement the SDGs. It can also be used to inform a country's Voluntary National Review (VNR) - assessing its progress in implementing the 2030 Agenda. "The SDGs are integrated and indivisible (...) with each Government setting its own national targets guided by the global level of ambition but taking into account national circumstances." The knowledge and skills I've gained from this course will allow me to better contribute to creating sustainable, impactful policies for a brighter future. #sdg #unitar #policyintegration #who #covid19 #sustainabilty #2030agenda
