The climate crisis is a water crisis. Not enough water, too much water, polluted water, we need a rapid change in the way we take care of our most precious resource, vital for all life on earth. Food and drink businesses in the Uk have been taking action through WRAP's Water Roadmap, a key pillar of our Courtauld 2030 programme. Working in partnership with our friends at WWF-UK and The Rivers Trust we have rapidly scaled up investment into collective action projects in key catchments in the Uk and overseas, vital for our food production, as well as working with a growing number of businesses to understand and act on water risk in our shared supply chains. We've worked together to grow investment in catchment projects from £0 to £1.1m in 18 months, as well as: 💧 32 businesses funding projects 💧 £300k foundation funding secured 💧 8 Collective Action Projects launched 💧 6 Retailer CEOs back Water Leadership Commitment through the @wwf Retailers' Commitment for Nature 💧 Global partnership agreement with @IDH 💧 7 contracts/collaboration agreements with project delivery partners The scale of the crisis is huge, but we have a way for businesses to take action. Time to take action! 💪 This poses a significant environmental threat, impacting aquatic life and ecosystems. However, there are ways and practices we can adopt to combat this pressing issue. 👉 One effective solution is the utilisation of Halcyon Eco Oil Filtration systems. These innovative filtration systems are designed to efficiently remove impurities and contaminants from used cooking oil, thereby extending its usability and preventing it from entering waterways. By implementing Halcyon Eco Oil Filtration in commercial kitchens, restaurants, and food processing facilities, we can significantly reduce the amount of used cooking oil that contributes to water pollution. Learn more about Halcyon Eco Oil Filtration and how it can help your business and the environment! 🌊 #waterpollution #savingnature #reuserecycle #sustainablebusiness #fryer #oilfilter #ecofriendly #environment #restaurant #hospitality

Water is critically important for all food processing, where it is primarily used for sterilisation, washing and general hygiene 💧 We are signatories to WRAP's Water Roadmap with a collective vision to help deliver the Courtauld Commitment 2030 water target where 50% of the UK's fresh food is sourced from areas with sustainable water management. Since 2016, we have saved enough water to fill 1,243 Olympic size swimming pools, equivalent to 3.1 million meters cubed 🌊 Read more in our latest PlanFourZero sustainability update: https://lnkd.in/eCtPiP3W #WorldWaterDay #PlanFourZero

Today is #WorldWaterDay and a moment to reflect on how important water is to us all 💧 It's through water that many of us now experience the impact of the climate crisis. According to Globescan's latest global survey (Making the Just Transition a Reality) one third of us are already greatly affected by water shortages & loss of nature. Worries about water pollution also run high. People all over the world said climate change and loss of nature will negatively impact their access to food and fresh water 💦 All of this confirms the importance of addressing the climate and nature crisis through a water lens, with a focus on food. That's why I'm super proud to celebrate WRAP's #WaterRoadmap today, and how we're working with food & drink businesses, local partners and global collaborators 💙 Together we're driving collective action to protect precious water resources on the ground, in some of the most at-risk food sourcing areas around the world. #WaterRoadmap #WorldWaterDay #SustainableWaterManagement #WaterStewardship #CollectiveAction #UNWater #FoodSecurity #NatureRecovery #ClimateCrisis

Join us in celebrating World Water Day 2024! Since 1993, World Water Day has been an annual United Nations Observance, highlighting the crucial importance of freshwater. We understand the critical role water plays in life and innovation. Did you know that saving food plays a significant role in water conservation? Every food item has a "water footprint," representing the total amount of water used throughout its life cycle, including growing, processing, transporting, and preparing the food. Shockingly, roughly one-third of the food produced globally is wasted each year, leading to wasted water resources. By reducing food waste, we can significantly decrease overall water consumption associated with food production. That's where Protera's innovative solutions come in! Protera Guard™, a unique protein food ingredient, extends the shelf life of bread, minimizing waste and the associated water footprint. Let's make a difference this World Water Day by conserving water and reducing food waste. Here are some tips to help you get started: 🔧 Fix leaks promptly 🚽 Install water-efficient fixtures 🚿 Embrace shorter showers 🌧 Collect rainwater 👕 Opt for full loads ☘ Be mindful of lawn care ♻ Reuse water when possible 🔧 Insulate your pipes 🌱 Mulch your garden 📢 Educate your household about water conservation Let's be mindful of water usage to conserve this precious resource. #WorldWaterDay #WaterConservation #Sustainability #SaveWater #SaveWaterSaveFood #ProteraGuard

Water and food are intrinsically linked. Agricultural supply chains use 70% of global freshwater resources. When food is wasted, so is the water used to produce it. Today is #WorldWaterDay and a perfect opportunity to reflect on the success of our #CollectiveAction Projects so far, and what still needs to be done. Only by working together can we achieve the #Courtauld2030 target, to source 50% of the UK’s fresh food & drink from areas with sustainable water management. Our #WaterRoadmap provides opportunities to join collective action projects and sets out a clear pathway to help businesses manage precious water resources more wisely.
