City level workshops conducted in Kohima and Rourkela recently brought together multi-sectoral stakeholders to take stock of the work done so far in these cities and discuss the way ahead under the #NurturingNeighbourhoodsChallenge. ➡ Kohima, situated in a hilly area envisions to steadily scale inclusive public spaces in the city by reclaiming residual spaces to create pocket parks in every ward, by creating age-specific play in city level parks and by retrofitting health centres with caregiver friendly waiting spaces. ➡ Rourkela has focused on scaling up inclusive public spaces in vulnerable settlements by scaling 120 anganwadis, clustering young children and caregiver friendly amenities in public spaces and adding necessary caregiver friendly amenities near primary health centres for comfort and convenience. The workshops enabled discussions on formulation of guidelines for designing public spaces, streets & junctions and early childhood centres and encouraged the collaboration between various departments and schemes, frontline workers, civic groups to meet the following vision of the cities. #EarlyChildhoodDevelopment #EarlyChildhoodMatters #Urban95 #UrbanPlanning #PublicSpaces Smart Cities Mission Bernard van Leer Foundation Rushda Majeed Ipshita Sinha Kunal Kumar Jeenal Sawla Kaustubh Chuke Madhura Kulkarni Andrea Torres Sansotta Sudipto Barua Arunima Saha Niepukhrie Tepa
