August 12 marked International Youth Day. This special day invites our attention to the shining global community of young people, their dreams and futures, and the challenges of their times. Since 2018, Writers Collective of Canada (WCC) has collaborated with several partner organizations to deliver on-site and virtual community writing workshops for youth and young adults. There, in the WCC workshop, writers can discover that which we all innately possess — our authentic voice. Continue reading our August newsletter to celebrate the brilliant voices of young writers. Another book “on the books” for this year! “The Only Grant-writing Book You’ll Ever Need” by Ellen Karsh and Arlen Sue Fox proved to be extremely insightful into the wide world of non-profit sustainability. A few key, personal takeaways: • Journalistic writing, writing for Public Relations, and Grant-writing have many, many connections. • Organization & preparation are essential. • Follow all directions “to a ‘T.’” • The details matter! … #grantwriting #journalism #publicrelations #nonprofit #arts #grants

Writing can be immensely therapeutic and cathartic, and we can transform our life lessons through the power of words. But how and when do we write about life's hard stuff? Join me for this afternoon workshop on May 4th -- also a fundraiser for the TLA Network -- to find your own best ways forward. https://buff.ly/33WRnyb or bio links. #writingfortransformation #healingwriting #writingforhealing #writingworkshop #therapueticwriting #writinghardstuff

Founder & CEO, @Cashflowyai (AI bookkeeping for small businesses) | Founder, @FinancialTitansPr (Nonprofit) | Financial Literacy Advocate
Holding a copy of Don Miguel Ruiz's "The Four Agreements" always grounds me. It's a simple yet powerful reminder of how to live a more intentional and authentic life. ✨ For those unfamiliar, the Four Agreements are: 1. Be Impeccable With Your Word: Speak with integrity and say only what you mean. 2. Don't Take Anything Personally: What others do is a reflection of themselves, not you. 3. Don't Make Assumptions: Seek clarity and communicate openly to avoid misunderstandings. 4. Always Do Your Best: Your best changes from moment to moment, but always strive for it. These agreements have resonated deeply with me over the years, it's a book I return to time and again. I believe they hold wisdom that can transform anyone's life, which is why I'm thrilled to be giving a Spanish version of "The Four Agreements" to all the students in our Financial Titans program (my non- profit). I'm so excited to see how these simple yet powerful agreements impact their lives and empower them to create a future filled with abundance and freedom. Support and follow @FinancialTitansPr for updates on how we are helping kids to a better future. --- #TheFourAgreements #FinancialTitans #ToltecWisdom #PersonalGrowth #Education #Nonprofit

After yesterday’s masterclass on Signature Stories at Canadian Investor Relations Institute (CIRI)'s 2024 Annual Conference, I found a Signature Story in an unlikely place: a thank-you card. At the end of the session, Tom Tran, MBA handed me a gift, including a donation made to First Book Canada—a wonderful non-profit that gets books to kids who need them. Last September, during National Literacy Month, First Book Canada went around Toronto installing “Little Locked Storyboxes,” which were just like the Little Free Libraries you often see . . . except that all of these libraries were locked. It was a clever approach, designed in partnership with PR students at Humber College. One of the students, Ashley Forgie, called it “a physical metaphor for what it feels like to be locked out of access to books.” It’s a brilliant one, and it reinforces a great storytelling lesson, too: subvert expectations. You walk by a Little Free Library, you see a good book inside, you try to open it, but you can’t. When it doesn’t, you stop to ask why. This time’s different than all the rest. You want to find out more, to know the rest of the story. Remember: stories are about the unexpected, the surprising, the unusual. It’s always a pleasure to discover those moments in everyday places. #storytelling #ciri #UnlockAChildsStory
