What can marketers learn from novelists?👀 Novelists understand the art of immersion, taking readers on a journey. As marketers, we can learn a lot from how they use pacing, tone, and emotional beats to hook their audience and keep them engaged. Here’s how these literary principles can sharpen your marketing game. 1. Creating space for curiosity, aka pacing In novels, pacing is about where you place the tension. Great storytellers know when to speed up and when to slow down, pulling readers through moments of suspense and resolution. Dumping all your key points upfront—features, benefits, CTAs—is the fastest way to lose your audience. Open with a question, an insight, or a tension point. For example: ❌ "Introducing our new app! It tracks your habits, syncs with your calendar, and improves your productivity. Get it now!" ✅What if you could reclaim 2 hours every day without even noticing? Meet X—the tool that simplifies your schedule and helps you make time for what matters most. And yes, it syncs with your calendar. 2. Speaking to the movement, instead of the crowd aka the tone Consider Margaret Atwood’s The Handmaid’s Tale: its tone is dark, measured, and reflective, perfectly suited to its dystopian narrative. Contrast that with the biting humour of Douglas Adams in The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy which is irreverent and playful because that’s what the story demands. Great marketing, like great writing, sounds like it was crafted for this moment and this audience. Tone is a lot about emotional resonance. What does your audience feel when they read your copy? Match your tone to their headspace, and make your words feel personal, like a conversation they’ve been waiting to have. For example: ❌ Writing is an essential skill for career success. Our course can help you improve. ✅Your ideas deserve to be heard—but how you write them determines if they will be. Learn to write with clarity, confidence, and purpose. Start with us. 3. Tapping into emotion Every great novel has moments that pull at your heartstrings or challenge your beliefs. These emotional beats create a bond between the reader and the story. In marketing, emotional beats are what drive action. People buy into emotions first, logic second. The key is to pinpoint the universal truth behind your product or service. What’s the deeper transformation you’re offering? Speak to the audience’s aspirations and fears. For example: ❌ Our tool has advanced analytics and customizable dashboards. ✅Don’t just track your progress. Understand it. With insights tailored to you, find clarity in your data and take the next step with confidence. #writingcommunity #storytelling #contentmarketing #marketingstrategy #novelwriting #creativewriting #branding #writerslife #authorlife #publishingtips

I was lost on how to work towards my goals until I did this easy 5-step process. I call it mapping out your skill deficiencies. It's a form of inverse thinking. And it's potent in showing you paths forward. Because by identifying skills your deficient in, you're identifying areas to progress in. Here's how it works: 1/ Grab a pen and piece of paper. 2/ Establish your goal. On top of your paper write your goal. A goal needs to: + Clearly state how you're going to do it. + A deadline to make it real. + And a Why to motivate you. If you're confused, here's a formula to fill in: I'm going to {fill in how you're going to accomplish it} by {fill in deadline} so that {fill in your Why}. Here's my goal to use as an example: I'm going to build my newsletter business up to $10,000/mo by 2027 so that I can travel the world. 3/ List the required skills Below your goal write the question: "What skills would I need to accomplish my goal?" Brain dump every skill that comes to mind. Here's what the list of skills looked like for my goal: • Copywriting • Growing on LinkedIn • Digital writing • Building a brand • Creating good content systematically • Creating digital products • Marketing digital products • Running a newsletter • Growing a newsletter • Researching and fleshing out ideas • Etc. 4/ Filter your list Now, examine your list. Which skill, if learned, would bring you the most immediate and biggest rewards? 5/ Pick one Once you examine and filter your list, pick a skill to work on. Then work on it. If you get lost again, repeat this process for your next step. But for now... you have a clear path forward. So, get after it. ... Visual Credit: Janis Ozolins

Writing emails to your list - do you love it or does it feel like a steep climb? I'm guessing that often it depends on what else you have on your plate.☺️ It's the end of the day. And you…well, you're on fumes. But now you have to email your list. You've fought hard to win the subscribers you have. But it's an uphill battle trying to keep engaging with them. Inboxes are busy. It takes so much effort and strategy to get seen. You know emailing every few weeks or even every week won't cut it. But it's better than nothing. Overwhelm is no fun. Everything is a priority. Being pulled in different directions. You know there's potential clients in that email list. Your mind is in overdrive. Your competition…feels like they're everywhere. With regular posts on social channels, regular emails. And why is it so painfully hard to write a simple email? It's like pulling teeth sometimes. What do you say? And how do you say it? Should you put links in there? Isn't social media more important? You "should" be doing both but who has time for that. Arghhhh! Systems and automation are your friends. You know it. Welcome email sequences, nurturing sequences. Engage your list with magnetic emails on autopilot. No more stressing about the cost of lost opportunities. Do it once and enjoy the benefits for months in your business. Feel your shoulders relax at the thought of it getting done for you. Excited to help you write these emails so you can reclaim some sanity. 💥 🚀 DM me if you'd like an email copy audit. 🔔 Follow for more tips on copywriting.

3 crippling fears you must overcome to build a powerful online presence. Fear 1: How will others view me? Fear 2: Am I qualified enough to share my expertise? (imposter syndrome) Fear 3: What if I can't consistently produce high-value content? I hand-hold clients to go from unsure to super confident when it comes to personal branding. Here’s my 5-step process to get started. 1- The interview: I take a deep dive into the client's background, goals, and values. This includes uncovering their professional expertise, unique experiences, and perspectives. 2- The research: Step 2 involves analyzing their industry trends and competitors + identifying target audience and their needs. 3- The themes & topics: Next, I develop their core brand messaging voice + content pillars that are aligned with their expertise & passions. I also work on the content calendar + topics for their review. 4- The reviewing: At this point, everything is ready for their review. 5- The posting: Post-formatting is a big one. Proper formatting allows for higher readibility. Combine this with a 7th-grade reading level and you’ve got a winner. Engage with the audience and track performance. The only way to squash those fears? Start before you’re ready. Keep showing up. ------------------------- PS. I’m Manam. I can support you in three ways. a) By helping you carve a personal brand your customers can’t ignore. (profile audit & optimisation + content creation) b) By developing thought leadership articles on your behalf in third-party, Tier-A publications. c) By creating unignorable, personality-loaded content for your personal website.

What do you do when your contractor disappears? ReVoice Marketing offers a variety of services in a Fractional CMO capacity. We're able to do this because we have - and are continuously scouting for - top-notch talent who can delight our clients. When a client is looking for social media listening, online course building, or go-to-market strategy, I handle that personally. But if someone comes looking for: - web design - copywriting - podcast guest placement services - case studies - book writing - book coaching - email marketing - video production I've got a small army of way-better-than-me-at-this subcontractor poised and ready to bring that vision to life in big and beautiful ways. It's hard to decide which part of this approach is most exciting to me: - Is it that I get to interview tons of cool people with fun skills? - Is it the glorious chaos of pulling together just the right team for a new project? - Is it being an integral part of the future of work? - Is it the freedom to focus on paying ND professionals to create beautiful things for ND professionals? - Is it because I never have to design another website so long as I live? 😝 Whatever it is, I love it and it works well for us. Except when it doesn't. Sometimes humans human at the worst possible time. What is your process for when someone you were counting on to meet a deadline needs a mental health day? Or, week? I do not for a minute subscribe to the belief that anyone should simply push through and deal. That's not healthy, ethical, or sustainable. I know I need to plan ahead. But what should the plan be? Or what could it be? I would love to know what you suggest. What works for you?
